Zach6668 513
Thunder Bay (AP) - The newest FCHL franchise, the Ottawa Limidonks, would like to introduce their first ever roster player, Jordan Staal.Jordan Staal was acquired in exchange for cap space in 2008/09, and 2009/10; $7 and $2 respectively, from the Altoona Maroons. Jordan, just 19 years old, is signed through 2011/12 at 25 cents. As an 18 year old, Jordan scored 29 goals in the NHL, in his rookie season, before regressing a bit last season. The Limidonks anticipate a breakout season, next year, and expect Jordan to be the cornerstone of the organization for years to come.Several hours later, the Limidonks completed another trade, adding two more roster players, and a relatively high draft pick. In exchange for more cap space, $9 in 2009/10, and $4 in 2010/11, General Manager Zach Henderson aquired Daniel Paille and Matt Cullen. In addition to the two players, the Limidonks also received, from the asdfjkl;s, the 13th overall pick in the upcoming entry draft. With the pick, the Limidonks will be looking to begin stocking the cupboard with a high-end prospect from the 1st round of this season's NHL entry draft.Paille, 24, is a restricted free agent, but declined salary arbitration with the Sabres, and is expected to be signed. Forecasters expect as many as 25 goals and 50 points from him in the upcoming season.Cullen, 31, coming off a good season, despite a late season injury, is expected to continue to contribute to Carolina's offense, and will be looking to better his 49 points in 59 games from last season.Paille and Cullen are both RFAs in the FCHL, but neither will be due a raise. GM Henderson will decide their fates in the coming weeks. Both players can be signed for $1 per season, for up to 5 years."Overall, I'm happy with the way the day went. I gave away too much cap, maybe, but I think it's a small risk for what could be a big reward down the road. Jordan Staal has the size and skill to be a great player, who can put up some big points, especially if he gets on the wing on Sid or Geno's line in Pittsburgh, and for just a quarter, he's a huge bargain if he does breakout," Henderson said from his home in Thunder Bay.He also added, "Cullen should provide some filler while we develop our farm and youth, but should be able to put up some points, and give us a chance to win on any night, and Paille, well, he's another young guy with some upside, who can put the puck in the net. We're starting a dynasty today, and I can't be more excited!"The Limidonks, while currently based in Thunder Bay, ON, will be relocating to Ottawa before the expansion draft, and will play out of the East Market Arena. gruven 530
Sounds like a Jerry Seinfeld routine... "And what's up with the limidonks? Can't they make up their minds? Are they lemondonks, or limedonks? Get off the fence, already!!"

DinkDonk 1
As a fellow LHE player as well as an Ottawa fan, I feel the time has come to pledge my support to a FCHL team.Equipped with a competent, if sometimes surly GM, I feel the Limidonks will be on the rise in the coming years and I will jump on this bandwagon now. WestcoastCanuck 0
As a roster tip, you will need at least 8 D to try to fill most nights. I think most teams had 8-9 last season, with the odd team having 10.
Zach6668 513
Yup, ty. That was my plan, not sure why I wrote 7-9. Fixed!

Zach6668 513
With their final selection in the 2008 Entry Draft, 46th overall, the Limidonks selected Buffalo Sabres defensive prospect Tyler Myers. He becomes the first defenseman to join either the main roster or the farm system. Myers was drafted 12th overall by the Sabres in this years NHL draft. The rest of the farm team will be filled out by a 5-round supplementary draft, which will take place immediately following the conclusion of the main draft, and only the three expansion teams will participate in that. The regular roster will continue to be filled in the meantime, most specifically at the expansion draft in early August, and the Free Agent Auction commencing in September. Zach6668 513
To be honest, I don't think I'll finish last place this year. I don't think I have a shot at the playoffs either, but I think I'll finish somewhere between 12th and 14th, and I'd be happy with that spot, as it'll let me get a solid solid prospect for the near future, as we start the building process.
