Looks like there is a very good chance this is going to happen..

WE have reached our target of 10000 season tickets and the Cheap Thieves owner believes its a done deal.

This would be amazing , and please please let it happen.

The trouble is the NHL has 29 other Dales and no Roys.

The LV Black Aces has always been my favorite candidate for a Vegas team name.

The old las vegas hockey coach who's now an assistant with the Canucks said it was a problem with the minor leaguers because 'In Vegas every night is saturday night'. LOL

We are getting a team y'all. It's likely going to be announced in June, but looking to be part of the league for the 2016-17 season. The team will be GOOD too. Free agents WILL come to Las Vegas, no state tax, year round golf, and it's freaking Vegas!!! I am likely going to be minority owner, so I will see what they think of the name Cheap Thieves, but I don't think it will fly :-) Most likely name at this point IMO is Las Vegas Knights.

I hope they go with a Monty Python theme for the Knight mascot

I am so excited and your positive outlook excites me even more.

I plan on being at most of the games with the family. I talked to my son's coach and he believes that kids hockey will explode and we will be on the ground floor of a boom in hockey.

If you are willing to sell me any sort of a piece, even if its like .000001 % I would be so happy.

Dont you think Phil would be the ideal leader for this team..I mean going to the rink in shorts, playing golf and poker on days off and no goofy Toronto buffoon media to deal with?

Jagr can hang on and we put Luongo in net.

Lets announce this puppy..

He would LOVE playing here. They have a plan that includes bringing the cup to Vegas in year 8. That's reasonable. By season 3-4 make the playoffs, then add key players to make it to the next level. It will work.

Have you heard anything about how an expansion draft, protection would work

With the cap it brings a new dynamic

Hey they should hire Dale.

He did the exact same thing. I think less than 8 years

Dale I tried to do some digging. Confirm how many years you have been in league.

7 or 8?

I am seriously thinking of hitting a game when the Leafs are in Vegas.

You better

So, part of your plan as a minority owner will be to hire some of us for prospect assessment in the scouting department, right? I firmly believe 8-10 of us working together on draft strategy would cut that Cup window down by 2-3 years.

I don't want much, I just want to be the Director of Amateur Scouting. :) My record of mining talent in the FCHL should speak for itself.

I'll take assistant scouting director. I've got a beat on a good goalie in his prime that I happen to know is a big fan of las vegas

I've had some interesting discussions about that. I think that any player who still has big contracts to sign and is a fan of las vegas is better off staying away from playing there for exactly the reasons they would want to play there. Minor league players for the old LV ECHL team would run out of their meal money constantly. Having an NHL bankroll there could be deadly, and the effects of the nightlife on careers could be disastrous. But I bet players who are signing what they know will be their last big money long term deal, they'd jump all over it.

Your points are extremely valid, but do you think this is an issue anymore? I mean there just as much trouble a 21 year old kid can get into in Toronto, New York, Dallas and LA as Vegas.

Plenty of drugs, women and nightlife in these big cities...The gambling might not be as easily accesible, but if poker is your vice, LA has much more action than Vegas. There are 100s of underground casinos I can take you in the GTA , which are much worse than real casinos..

I definetely agree that is easier, but kids are gonna screw up regardless of the city..

The Jays had their AAA team in Vegas for a few years..I went to a game with JP and his brother while we were there..

Really bad part of town, but we had a great time.

I can see AAA players having issues and the minor league players like you mentioned..

I am sure a guy like Phil is not gonna blow 10s of millions of dollars just because he is now living in Vegas..

Chris you need to make it happen..Convince him to hang in with Leafs and refuse any trades until Vegas starts playing...He would be perfect on that team.
