I was at Bellaagio last night when we all got the news. Very sad. Everyone took it pretty hard. Kid was 20 years old, an incredible baseball pitcher, super smart, good looking kid... very sad. Chau was a very good friend of both Chip and Casey and while he came down to play poker he just couldn't do it. It was a shock. People were both sad, and also pretty angry at the same time.

Such a tragedy for the Reese family/friends...

This is the privacy part that I agree with, those details aren't needed to be known, just what happened so that there are no questions flying around as to how it happened, just a confirmation of what did happen so that things can be allowed to fade from public scrutiny quickly.

You're right, but just seemed strange considering the whole thread was about Chip's son, and his connection to him.

I was making reference to the people affected hardest by the tragedy. I can't imagine parents losing their children. Its a sucky thing.

This kid was considered a major league prospect right? I remember reading that he worked out with (I think) Roger Clemens at some point and was very impressive. This is very sad, regardless of baseball obv.

edit: and 2+2 is kinda ridiculously over moderated/censored, and shouldn't be held as the standard for what is considered acceptable for this forum.

Fwiw, I know it's not relevant since the news is all over the place now, but somebody asked me to try to get the thread locked, so I did. Didn't mean to ruffle feathers.

FWIW, Casey did play poker, at least for fun. This was probably...3 years ago, but he was playing in the .5/1 game at the Luxor with me and a couple buddies.

yeah, he did some small games and whatnot, but I wouldn't have considered him a 'poker player'

RIP Casey

I was watching the 2008 WSOP HORSE tournament as I read this thread. So sad for the family. May God bless them and give them strength. So much heartache to deal with.

Amazingly sad news. What ever the cause of death was, it could never take away from how sad of a situation this is. If it is from prescription drugs, I know too many people who have OD'ed on them, they are not meant to be used recreationally for any reason, and it's sad when it takes tragedy such as this to make us realize that could easily have been our kid, our grandkid, our niece or nephew, our godson or goddaughter... In death I find the greatest thing we can do is find how we can learn or grow from the situation or the life the deceased led, for to have someone live a life and have nothing more come from it than your time spent on earth what was the value of living? Once the time for grieving has passed, I hope everyone affected, myself included, will reach out to the young people in your life and let them know you're there and you care.
