I agree completely about catwoman and the action sequences. DOn't know why this part is in spoilers, though. About batman dying.. I kind had been hoping for it too, but I heard an argument that one critic made, that the series had been SO dark through the entire run, that having a little light at the end of the movie seemed well balanced, and I tend to agree. Though I think your smirk idea is interesting. If you just showed Alfred there, sitting down, looking glum.. and then, looking up, and his face changes, and he lights up into a smile.. never actually showing Bruce, I think that would have been nice. I think "Robin" is supposed to become the new batman. I don't think he broke into the cave to put on a red vest and wear tights. I think the Robin thing was just a wink to the fans.

I'm not sure why it's spoilered either, yet here we are.Yeah, I heard that argument too and it's why I didn't have a problem with the ending. I mean, I think it works as the conclusion to the trilogy. I just think having him die would've set this movie apart from basically every other superhero movie.

Mainly, as I've stated numerous times, the non-realism of the movie really ruined it for me. Specifically "The Bat", and how apparently 50 guys could easily hold a city of 17 million people hostage for 4 months, with absolutely no response from the federal government.That being said, I liked how it ended. It was pretty great AND pretty weird that they set up "Robin" as the next "Batman". (Nolan is done making these, correct? Will Joseph G. Levitt start up a new trilogy?) I mean, at the end he's in the lair, and the platform is rising...then: The Dark Knight Rises. I think it's an important connecting point for the entire series, that ties it together nicely. "Batman" isn't a person, but an idea.For me, Batman Begins is clearly the best overall movie, followed closely by The Dark Knight. However, Heath Ledgers performance alone, basically makes them tied. I still like Begins as an overall movie, much better. Then Rises is ranked far below that.

The government didn't do nothing; they sent in special forces undercover. And then they got killed. Do you think they should've just attacked the city and let them blow up a nuclear bomb? They blew up all but one bridge so there was only one way out and the army basically secured that bridge. I'm also pretty sure it was more than 50 guys. Yes, JGL will be the next Batman in Christopher Nolan's Batman world because, like you said, it ties together nicely. Nolan isn't doing anymore Batman movies though, so it's just a question of whether the studio wants to hand that world over to another director or if they just want to start over fresh with somebody new.

Some radiation might leak, but it's my understanding that in that situation it wouldn't detonate. Also, they could have just shot Bane or the lady, instead of continually trying to beat him in a fist fight. That might work.

They didn't know which truck had the bomb, so you risk bombing the wrong truck and then they nuke. Most of the work that JGL and his crew were doing was trying to mark where the bomb was.Nobody knew who had the detonator.Oh, and Batman doesn't believe in guns.

too drunk to go back and check but i think the leafs may win the cup; i agree with brv about a movie. TDKR was ok but disappointing, BB was better in sum that TDK, but Heath Ledger (and the final voiceover by Gary Oldman, which is sublime) makes the parts of TDK better than BB, so it's kinda a wash.
