Wasicko Not Intimidated By Daniel?

Recommended Posts

oops...should be Wasicka...Wasicko was my high school gym coach...and some Matusow thrown in:From Wasicka Interview

PL:Were you nervous playing with those big time players like Doyle Brunson and Daniel Negreanu?Paul: Not really. More just like really cautious. Like I played pretty tight poker. I don't know if you guys saw the episode or not but I was playing pretty tight that first hour. A combination of not getting many hands and wanting to kind of feel out the table. All those guys had been sitting together for a good three or four hours so they kind of knew the dynamic whereas I was the newcomer. I was the last person to join that table and so I wanted to be pretty cautious and make sure I knew what everyone was doing. But also I mean for that first two hours I wasn't getting many hands so it was pretty frustrating. But in this next episode, I'll be playing a lot more hands.PL:I noticed Mike Matusow was obviously giving you the needle.Paul: Yeah. I expected that going in though so it didn't really bother me.PL:Did he give you the needle and then beg you for some money?Paul: Yeah. My buddy was like dude, you should let me sit at the table and I'll do your **** talking for you. Like I should have come up with so many good responses and like shut him up or put him on tilt. Probably a good lesson.

Would you be intimidated? I recognize that he's one of the best players, but I wouldn't be intimidated. Intimidation comes from not believing in your own abilities - if you believe you have a solid grap on anything, you shouldn't be intimidated by anything or anyone. No matter what it is you do, there is most likely someone out there who does it better. Are you going to be intimidated by everyone?

I used to play free bar poker with him here in Colorado. We weren't on a first name basis or anything, but I recognized him after he won. Super nice guy, awesome player.Matusow deserves to be put down at any time. He's an ***, and admits that he talks **** to put others on tilt. The least anyone could do is needle him for not even being allowed to play with his own mobney.

Flame me all you want but I love watching Mikey play, he makes watching guys that are super annoying and super gay Cough* Esfandiari* cough bearable. He admits that he needles at ppl to go on tilt, it's just what he does and it's funny to me.

I agree, well, not about esfandiari, but about Mike the Mouth. I like watching him play. 1. cause he is entertaining and makes a few nice plays from time to time. 2. to see the matusow blowup. If he's in the tournament its as reliable as taxes and death. You don't always know when but it comes, LOL. Good luck at the tables, PKR.

watching Wasicka he seems to have a very solid game, nothing really crazy or over the top but a pretty solid player overall. As far as Mikey he is entertaining but I have always had a problem when people have to go outside the game to get people to tilt and that is how they beat them. I use to bowl a lot and there were always some people that if you talked to a lot that would make them nervous and they might not be able to make the shot when they need it. I always thought that was a chicken sh!t way to beat someone. It was more like you needed to get them to screw up to beat them because you might not be able to beat them at their top game. I am not saying Mikey needs to do that a lot because I do think he is one hell of a player with great reads but I think his actions do sometimes help to make him look better when messing with peoples head. Flame away I know it is coming.

Often, the people that talk too much are the ones who are giving away more information than they get themselves. If others cannot use this to their advantage, then that's their problem and their lack of intuition. Some do, and are able to exploit Mike.... others it seems, let him get to them and that's a serious weakness at a poker table.

I'd be playing supertight as well 1st off because he has no idea how all those players play so it's good to sit there pick up small pots, break even with the blinds, watch them and pick up there style for about 2 hoursI bet next week he starts playing semi-loose and takes down about $50,000/100,000and also who wants to owe hundreds of thousands dollars to someone lolI'd also like to think that things change when you win 6 million you dont want to just give it all backany idea how much gsn pays the pros to record?

You suck b*Alls! F_L_A_M_E_D!Now that that's out of the way. I used to think that the players that needle other players (MM, TonyG) were annoying and that they shouldn't have to do that in order to win. But when you get to thinking about the amount of money at stake, shouldn't you use any and all tactics at your disposal in order to win? They're pros up against other pros. It's usually a very difficult game at any given event, so they should take advantage of any edge they have.

I don't think people give Matusow enough credit. He has a reputation as a bad boy and smack talker or whatever, but he does it jokingly and was nice to Paul and Jaime on High Stakes, and I think that's why people like to see him blow up and lose and take bad beats.Don't forget he made the final table of the World Series twice in five years, and finished in the top 100 in 2004. That's really saying something, and him and Hellmuth are the best at trapping the aggro internet donks for all their chips.
