$guaranteed tourney cancellations?

Hi everybody,This topic may have been discussed before, but I couldn't find any...I was just in a $15K guaranteed tourney at partypoker, and only about 1700 players registered for the 5 + 1 buy-in... so party was gonna be losing some money. I was doing pretty well until the entire tourney crashed, and I was told it was due to "unforeseen technical difficulties."Is it common for poker sites to intentionally stop these guaranteed tourneys because they're losing money from them?This may be a stupid question, but I just wanted to see your thoughts.Thanks!
