Zach6668 513
is that allowed to loan a player to KHL??I think so... like how Nylander got loaned to some AHL team last year, right?
serge 904
Interesting discussion on the radio today. Is whats happening to the Blackhawks a factor of the CBA and the Salary cap, or was it partly brought on themselves with a couple of bad contracts. The discussion was if they didnt overpay Campbell and Huet, they would have more than enough money to keep all their players. The question is can you have a Dynasty in the cap era? I don't recall anyone thinking the Campbell and Huet deals were good ones at the time. The cap definitely makes it harder to correct mistakes.I think a dynasty is possible, but it will be very difficult. You have to be smart AND get lucky. If the Blackhawks hadn't signed Campbell and Huet to those contracts what would the team look like today? Would they have won?

The signing of Campbell and Huey were exciting at the time, but probably not the best. Of course, one would argue that ANY free agent is over paid. So yes, those bad contracts hurt. What really hurt the Hawks most this off season was the unexpected cap hit from bonuses earned last season that will take effect this season. Over 4 million. To answer your other question about a dynasty; yes you can. Clearly mini Bowman is trying to run the Hawks like his daddy ran the Wings. Get a SOLID core of players that can play both ends of the ice, trade away players who you can't re-sign and rely on your scouting to fill in holes cheaply. I will take Chicago's core of Toews-Kane-Hossa-Keith-Seabrook-Sharp-Hjalrmasson-Bolland over anyone's. Of course, they have their work cut out for them to resign Seabrook after this upcoming year. The team was sliding a bit during Campbells shoulder injury and when he came back against Nashville, you could see a diference in their play. He was worth it...last year.2. Last years "qualifying offer debacle" requiring them to re-sign Barker, Versteeg and Brouwer might have allowed them to keep Niemi and/or Versteeg. Hanging that error all on Tallon seems a bit harsh. Mini-Bowman has to accept some of the responsibility. One thing is for certain, worrying about the team coming back hungry shouldn't be a problem. Half the the new roster will be new and the "core" appear to be professional enough to want a return trip to the finals. Hope Kaner sobers up.
serge 904
Well put ...I think the Hawks are still one of the top teams in the West..

Mini-Bowman has to accept some of the responsibility.Tallon was done in Chicago anyway, ownership and John McDonough wanted Stan Bowman in the big chair and used the RFA debacle as a means to an end. Dale is a great NHL GM, would love to have him in Buffalo but I'll have to settle for sitting back and watching him turn the Panthers around 180 degrees.

TheDaveyG 6
Wow, I am really slacking with keeping this thread going. Blackhawks finally putting it together to the tune of 8 in a row. Check out Toews' game log for the past month or so. Toews-Kane-Sharp should be in any discussion about which line is best in hockey now. I can't wait for the playoffs to start. If the regular season is a preview, then it's gonna be legendary.

If the regular season is a preview, then it's gonna be legendary.I was at the game on Saturday and they look VERY good..that line is pretty scary..The only question is can Crawford continue his amazing play into the playoffs, there is no reason to think he wont..With the experience of Turco they should be ok..Having watched them its surprising that they arent running away with the west and were just ordinary for most of the year and were out of a playoff spot. TheDaveyG 6
So I guess if everyone is commenting how playing Florida is a trap game, then just go out and prove them right. Bloody hell, what a crappy first period for the Hawks last night.
