5/10 hu riv decision.

Recommended Posts

This is 5/10 Heads-up.I've been playing w/ this guy for 10 minutes but he seems to be semi-passive when he misses, but it isn't like a lot of players.I pick up 5 :club: 5 :D in the big blindsb bets, Hero 3 bets, sb callsTo call a three bet he has any two card he would raise with so this doesn't narrow it down. His post flop play should tell me more.Flop: Q :D 2 :D J :spade:hero bets, sb callsHe's got anything now, this call is priced in w/ A-x especially against me.(4 bb's in pot)Turn: 6 :club:hero bets, sb calls.(6 bb's)Safe TurnRiver: K :spade:hero...Feel free too comment on any other part of the hand as well.

I probably check-fold the river. You really don't beat much. this board looks like it hit him in some way, the only hands you can beat are AX or a missed flush draw, in which case they may very well check behind you as well and not try to bluff the river. You may want to look him up for future reference, but there's no value in betting, very unlikely he calls you with AX on this board and every other hand he calls you with is beating you.

The K is a pretty nasty hand for you.I don't think you could know enough about the guy after 10 minutes to bet the river expecting him to fold a medium pp or any other hand that beats yours. But I think your had is good enough to call, since he could have A-x or medium suited connectors.I check/call.

Almost a definite check/call. Folding pocket pairs heads up is a bad habit to develop, but it's tough to get a call from a worse hand here. Check and hope to induce a bluff from a missed flush draw or get a free showdown. You might be missing fold equity from an A :club: 6 :D or even a PP like 7's thru 9's. But I don't think a bet here is profitable, and you can't call a raise so check/call is my vote. Folding pocket pairs heads up is a bad habit to develop.

if this is a head up match and he has a flush draw with an ace, i dont know why the hell he isn't raising the flop/and or turn. unless he really is passive and fears you.He may have a jack and just can't find the raise button. he may be fearing you have the Q since you 3 bet him.Passive players suck cause I think in HU matches and you hold a small pair and they just call you down you are more often beat than ahead. If he didn't ahve you on the flop, I gotta assume he does now on the river.I'd probably check fold here, but I dont hate check calling to look him up for info.IMO, check folding is not weak and not a bad play when you are holding a small pair with 3 overs. if he bets the river I'm almost 80% sure we have a loser.but a look up is ok for info.- Jordan

Lets look at check/calling versus check/foldingI will be getting 7-1 on my money with a call here after checking if he bets it.Can I win this hand enough for that to be profitable? This is the range I had him onAT-A2, KT, JT-J9, T9-T8 :diamonds: 98-45 :diamonds:, Possibly a pair.. but I don't think so.

I check/fold the river. I find it highly unlikely he doesn't have a K, Q, J, or something else that beats us, and if he bets, then there's no value in calling.I also see no value in betting, because I think Villain will just call a lot of hands that beat us, and raise with hands that destroy us.

A blank ace would be nice, but how often was he callnig you down with shitty aces when you 3 bet him preflop.unless you were showing down a lot of trash 3 betting him, I can't see him calling down w Ax. Unless he is just that bad. It's hard to say as I dont ahve any read but what you have said...but this feels like a weakly played J, and at best maybe a flush draw that he also played horrid.I really think u had him scared from the 3bet preflop. If he is calling you down with 89d or 109d then he probably will check the river cuz he knows you aren't going to fold to his bet.that's why if he bets the river I can be about 80% sure we are beat. - Jordan

I think most flush draws would raise the flop here. I also don't think many players would try to bluff the river considering you 3 bet pre-flop, because this looks like a situation where you will check-call any bet.Personally the way I play 55 out of position headsup is to just call the raise pre-flop and not 3-bet. 77 and 88 however I probably 3 bet it. I don't particularly like being the aggressor with a small pair and what is almost for sure going to be overcards to your pair of 5's. Headsup with small pairs, you really have no idea where your at as your opponent could be raising any 2 cards and you don't know what hits them. I like to see the flop and play it accordingly to what I feel he has.

unless you were showing down a lot of trash 3 betting him, I can't see him calling down w Ax. Unless he is just that bad. I was 3-betting the flop habitually to "gear him down" because he started raising me on a few hands and I didn't like it. I bet about 80% of my hands against this type of player.I Opted for the check/call and he turned over A-9 :Diamonds:
