Rip Bobby Thompson

Recommended Posts

Bobby Thompson died today at age 86. he hit the most famous homerun in baseball history. the only playoff game against the brooklyn/LA dodgers in our 130 year hated rivalry. down 4-2 going into the bottom of the 9th, Bobby stepped up with two outs and two on.... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_leagu...?urn=mlb-263060

Really? I don't know about that. What about Gabby Hartnett's "Homer in the Gloamin" back in 38 or even Magglio's HR in the ALCS in 2006. Those were pretty good.

both great, but the history between the dodgers and giants, and the rivalry was so intense at the time, it's probably the biggest home run in baseball history.Mazeroski's walk off against the Yankees would be #2 for me.

Come on. What percentage of people would even recognize the name Gabby Hartnett? I think your Magglio example is probably a joke; that's a joke, right? Edit: Yes, it was a joke.I think Thompson's probably is the most famous with a big reason because of the "The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!" home run call. Others in consideration would be Mazeroski and Kirk Gibson and maybe Joe Carter, but that's Canada so it hardly counts.

jeezus I was kidding. I don't even know the first example I posted, I googled it and copied and pasted it. I need a new identity so I can go around and not have everyone take me so seriously.

Lol I remember Joe Carter's walk off. But yeah, the call was as big as bobby thomsons homerun. classic.
