Go easy on me. This is the first real time I've ever tried to put a list together, and this list will definitely be changing frequently until it gets more refined. After which, it will still require ongoing maintenance. 1 Braveheart 2 No Country for Old Men 3 Chariots of Fire 4 Unbreakable 5 The Hudsucker Proxy 6 Pulp Fiction 7 Anne of Green Gables 8 Gattaca 9 Traffic 10 Apocalypto 11 Once 12 Big Lebowski 13 The Sound of Music 14 Star Wars (in order 5,4,6,2,1,3) 15 Dr. Strangelove 16 The Apostle 17 The Shawshank Redemption 18 Matrix 19 Ratatouille 20 The Station Agent 21 Last of the Mohicans 22 Raising Arizona 23 Collateral 24 Terminators (in order 2,3,1,4) 25 Saving Private Ryan 26 Bridge Over the River Kwai 27 Indiana Jones (in order 1, 3, 2, death, 4) 28 2001 29 Life is Beautiful 30 Back to the Futures (in order 1, 2, 3) 31 Aladdin 32 12 Monkeys 33 The Professional 34 Princess Bride 35 Unforgiven 36 Monsters, Inc. 37 Top Gun 38 Payback 39 The Insider 40 Fight Club 41 Ali 42 Blazing Saddles 43 Grizzly Man 44 The Fugitive 45 War Games 46 Count of Monte Cristo 47 Out of Sight 48 Point Break 49 Spellbound 50 Spy Game Trying to even put together a top 50 was almost impossible. I think I had about 300 movies on my excel spreadsheet. Getting it to a top 10 was even harder and things will need to be adjusted.

I have more issue with your numbers 1 and 3 than gattica and unbreakable.

Yes I like both of them especially Gattaca, but I wouldn't rank them among the greatest movies I've ever seen. I remember seeing Gattaca for the first time in biology class in high school. It was really good but I wasn't really jumping out of my seat saying that it is the greatest movie ever. I thought the Sixth Sense was way better than Unbreakable if we're looking at M. Night movies.I won't attempt to make a top 50 list because it will take forever and most people will think I'm retarded with my picks, but from yours I'd definitely consider the below movies for my top movies. I'm glad you added Collateral I really liked that movie. From below Unforgiven is definitely my favorite.

I don't think I ever saw Anne of Green Gables, but at #7...? Ok. Feels like the Sound of Music should go on there somewhere. Here's a few movies that would definitely go at the top of my list:Apocalypse NowSpider Man The Dark KnightThere's Something About MaryCasablancaHaha, I almost wanna make my own list now. Top 50, no prob.

Great list brvheart, everyone has different opinions & tastes. I haven't seen Out of Sight since I saw it in theater in the 90s. I was pretty young though, 15 or 16 and I remember not liking it at all. I might have to give that one another shot.My Top 10 would certainly include Ben-Hur & The Great Escape. I think they are just so enjoyable and re-watchable. No Lord of the Rings in the top 50? It's hit or miss I guess for some. I should attempt my own list some day.

This is the best I could come up with, without spending too terribly much time on it or obsessing about order. Just my own personal preference, I know some of the classics like the Godfather and Shawshank and Scarface are left out, but this is my list, not yours. :)1 Band of Brothers (yes, I know it's technically not a movie but BoB stands as the best *anything* I've ever seen)2 Star Wars Saga (In order - 5,4,6,3,2,1)3 Saving Private Ryan4 Monty Python and the Holy Grail5 The Sting6 Lord of the Ring Trilogy (In order - 2,3,1)7 Black Hawk Down8 Tombstone9 Platoon10 Goodfellas11 Snatch12 Spaceballs13 Indiana Jones Quadrilogy (In order - 1,3,2,4)14 Heat15 Die Hard Quadrilogy (In order - 1,4,3,2)16 Bourne Identity Trilogy (In order - 1,3,2)17 Forrest Gump18 Pirates of the Caribbean Movies (In order - 2,1,3)19 Harry Potter Movies (No real order of preference)20 The Usual Suspects21 American Beauty22 Almost Famous23 Back to the Future Trilogy (In order - 1,3,2)24 All The President's Men25 Ghostbusters26 Iron Man (only the first one)27 Ocean's 11 (Clooney version, only the first movie)28 Swingers29 The Matrix (only the first one, the others don't count)30 The Big Lebowski31 Fight Club32 Braveheart33 Alien/Aliens (the other two sucked)34 The Dark Knight35 The King's Speech36 The Hunt for Red October37 Beer Fest38 Office Space39 Clerks40 Ferris Bueller's Day Off41 Airplane42 Gladiator43 30044 Lethal Weapon Movies (In order - 2,4,1,3)45 A Few Good Men46 Full Metal Jacket47 Avatar48 LA Confidential49 Anchorman50 JawsIf I was to be locked in a dungeon with only my 55" LED and a Blu-Ray player, I'd feel pretty good about having those movies with me.

I haven't seen the bulk of the ones you highlighted either, but Spy Game, Count of Monte Cristo and Out of Sight are definitely quality.

I really didn't overthink the whole process, I just came up with a list of like 70 movies, spreadsheeted the list, put a 1,2,3,4 or 5 next to the movie title depending on approximately where I thought it should fall, sorted the list by numbers, then tried to quickly rank them according to preference.

I strongly considered Dazed and Confused, Rad is more of an awesomely bad movie.

Interesting and eclectic list. I was also a bit surprised to see Unbreakable on the list much less in the top 5. A bit light on the "Classics" especially pre-1980. But it is your list.Have you ever read The Princess Bride? I read it a long time before they made the movie. The author, William Goldman also wrote Marathon Man and Magic. He is a two time Oscar winning Screenwriter (Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, All the President's Men) and many many other Screen Plays and Novels to his credit.
