Can someone look over this hand that I played, I would like to know what I should be thinking in this situation. I am pretty sure I made the wrong play by calling, but I was just really lost. This player had been pretty aggressive up to this point. Why are you raising the flop? That's the best way to approach this hand. Are you doing it for value or as a bluff? Both seem really spewwy since raising there for value is way tooo thin and bluffing is stupid since you have a pair with an oesd. Flat the flop, decide on the turn.

OP said he was aggressive, but in a reckless way? Personally, I might have 3-bet light here and would have folded to any shoves behind. Depending on the UTG previous play, either call his shove (he would have ~20% invested at this point) and hope for a flip (assuming he plays a little spewey/reckless) or fold (again, really depends on his past play and how he responds to 3-bets PF). If he flats PF then fires a 2/3 pot bet, then he is committed here, then decide to shove and flip for the OESD (pocket 10s just wouldn't hold here, so OESD would be only hope) or fold and just waste ~.36 on pocket 10s. As played, I agree flatting in position is best. If he fires again I would fold (unless based on his previous play made me think otherwise).Ian, would it be terrible here to 3-bet pre at the micros, then be super cautious on the flop? or would that be a bit spewey? Either way you would still be risking ~.36. 6-handed a 3-bet should only get larger pairs and pocket paints to call, so any more paint on the flop would pretty much be the end of this hand.or am I just way off here????

3 betting to isolate a loose reckless player pre flop seems to fine imo. Calling it off if they shove given players reads. As played, call flop evaluate turn

I was thinking that micro levels are 'nit city' but with the raise from UTG it may be best not to 3-bet this pre-Flop without the intention of getting it in against an aggressive player's wide range .. but how wide is the range UTG? How does a 70% Flop bet compare to previous c-bets .. it looks a bit 'go-awayish' to me thus the need to flat. UTG has no idea where we are in the hand and no flush draws are out there right now either so call and take the card to see what happens .. if you hit your 5-card hand then you probably get paid anyway so why put it in there on a draw.

 

Of course it's easy to say these things with the outcome known but why become the aggressor against an aggressor? The odds of getting something additional out of this are pretty good unless your flat sends off signals to the opponent. I dont belive the math works out here even if you are against an over pair ... flat and let nature take its course.

Is the villian "aggressive" or "spewy?" Makes a huge difference IMO. Also, I don't hate it as played on the flop, since we're not real deep. If villain is playing a lot of spots light, we are looking at a range of xT from villian a lot, some air, and almost any playable jack and assorted bigger hands. I'm not going to say it's a bad play, you just ended up on the heavy end of his range.
