You won't be seeing too much of the 28 story never-opened hotel "The Harmon" (which is part of the CityCenter complex) because it is scheduled to be dismantled beginning this month. Engineers have said it is structurally unsound and could collapse in a major earthquake

http://en.wikipedia....wiki/The_Harmon

Wiki said it's going to be imploded but I read in the Nov. 24 Las Vegas Review Journal they've decided to take it apart floor by floor instead of imploding it. What a money guzzling fiasco it turned out to be. Somebody screwed up big time.

Engineering- including structural- is one of the most lucrative outsourcing types right now.

My guess is that somewhere in the engineering food chain, we will find someone who thought they could middle ther developers by charging book rate, then just paying an engineer in some country where donkey wagon is still standard to engineer the foundation, or whatever the failing element is, not bothering to manually check the math and stamping it.

That's assuming the reason they're taking it down is becuae it's actually unsafe and not just because Vegas was comically overbuilt for about a decade and The Harmon is what it looks like when you're the dumbass who doesn't grab a chair when the music stops playing.

You probably do if you're a cab driver. Or rather, a pro gambler is literally the most likely profession to be irresponsible and detached enough to leave 300K in a taxi.

You don't see the cabby that found a paper bag with stacks of hundreds in his back seat give it back too often either.

I always wondered if this was for publicity for the cab company. Even if, let's say, the rider paid with a CC and knows what company he rode with and what time, what driver, etc...the driver could of always said "I never saw it" or "maybe another fare grabbed it". That's a shit ton of money to find free and clear and suddenly give back without second thought.

Tom.
