So, Ellsbury and Crawford are finally back and are so far a combined 16 for 37. Dis is good. Crawford stole 3 bases the other night.

Have you heard of that minor league player who is going crazy with the stolen bases? I don't know his name or what team he plays for, but he has over 100 stolen bases in 88 games. I hope he's actually a good player because I'd like to see a guy like that in the majors.

Yes, his name is Billy Hamilton. His father's name was also Billy Hamilton, and was a really really fast major league player. He plays shortstop right now, but apparently isn't great there, and could play CF instead by next year. If he moves to the OF, he could be in the MLB by June/Sept next year. If not, still possible, but less likely. He is insanely, crazily fast. He isn't even that amazing of a base-stealer, he's just fast enough to make up for it.Last year, people thought he'd be borderline to ever make it to the majors. Maybe as a defensive replacement/speed guy. He has been a ton better this year though, and is now considered one of the best prospects and almost certain to make the majors. And he will be very fun to watch when he does.If I was a betting man, I'd say we even see him added to the 40-man roster in September, and he could see some time as a pinch-runner if the Reds are still a playoff team.
Long signatures are really annoying.

Pessimism/realism reigns in Boston. I was pretty surprised at the results - usually people in whatever city, certainly including Boston, are eternally optimistic about their team, and we're only 4 games out of the WC.http://www.boston.co...tseason_survey/

In other news, the Red Sox sent like their whole team to the Dodgers. I think it was a good move, freeing them up to potentially do lots of interesting things and get/re-sign players who can be more useful than A-Gon, Crawford, and Beckett. Don't get me wrong, Beckett was great for us, but he seems to be over-the-hill at this point. Gonzalez was pretty awesome at times, but wasn't quite the power slugger we had hoped for. And Crawford was just injured and crappy. Tough to tell how much was just bad luck (injuries) and how much was a bad signing (overpaid, very mediocre when he did play). I'd much rather we sign Ellsbury for 6 years and $100m.
