Dubey 1,035
question for people that watched the pilot I thought the scene at the end was a revelation that Barry was actually the older son and first in the succession line (as in, Barry was the one that wouldn't shoot the guy in the flashback scene), And that's why he was so adament that they shouldn't have come back, and why he didn't want to say anything on the plane. But it occurs to me that this may not be the case, and Barry just has a sociopathic violent streak, while his brother transformed from a timid boy into a violent monster. I think my initial reaction mkes more sense and is better for the show going forward, but I read a few recaps and nobody else seemed to have the same thought. What is you guys' interpretation of the ending, and how the show will continue form here?

What is you guys' interpretation of the ending, and how the show will continue form here? I thought it was obvious that he was the younger son. I think he calls them by their names, anyway. He's a sociopath, who's trying to fight it, I think..
BigDMcGee 3,352
I read a couple reviews from a couple people who have gotten screeners through episode 4, and it sounds like the series doesn't keep the mad capped ****ed up pace that it had in the pilot, which would be disappointing. GWCGWC 83
I'm surprised FX is willing to shell out the kind of dough it takes to produce these dramas. I know a lot can be done with green screen for palaces and scenery but the actual sets and costuming is certainly above average. This show definitely gets a spot in my rotation. I had the last movie thread open and read the following suited post at the exact time the brother said, "there it is" when doing his thing with the bride. It was a weird moment. There it is, definitive proof I'm right.

What is you guys' interpretation of the ending, and how the show will continue form here? Barry is the younger boy. As the second son he was of little value to his father. The older brother, the first in line of succession, gets all the attention (good and bad) in an attempt by his father to groom him. I think Barry saw an opportunity to win his father's approval and took it. That doesn't negate the potential psycho angle either. I mean, a psychopath would see killing a man to get positive attention from his father as a perfectly acceptable action.
SuitedAces21 2,722
yeah it was pretty obvious the twist was that despite moving away, the one thing bassam always wanted was daddys love. and he's afraid of what he might do to prove himself worthy.

hank213 1,823
random thoughts: hate the wife. she's your basic kaye corleone archetype. "what are you thinking? what are you doing?" blah blah blah the gay son ought to provide some intensely awkward moments so did jamal get his dick sewn back on or is he no longer "a man?" i hope it's the latter, should prove to be hilarious
BigDMcGee 3,352
Yeah, I'm curious how the wife will rise above stereotype. I'm hoping that she gets seduced by the power of the place. You know that the son is. I imagine the daughter is going to be the moral voice of caution, trying to pull the family back from the brink. Which will be SO boring.
Essay21 2,385
Hopefully the son is killed by extremists and Barry goes HAM on everybody.

Theraflu 1,035
Is this really worth watching? My two favorite reviewers hated it. I'm a pretty large FX whore, but with a 1 year-old, my free time is in demand. I also don't care for horror, but was going to bank The Strain for my summer viewing.
