  1. It depends on how many people are in the pot. If you play better than the rest of the table, I think you could probably make a very marginal profit calling with any two if there are 3 or 4 limpers in front of you. There are position advantages to being the small blind too, for example you have the best relative position on the table, meaning you get to see how everyone reacts to the people in front of you if you check. If it checks around to late position there is also an advantage in being able to throw in a reraise and isolate if you have a hand that plays better with 2 or 3 people. Its
  2. Not exactly a bad beat but this was one wierd and sickening handLive 1-2NL at Ceasars i've been at the table a couple rounds and doubled up when i cracked aces with a set, besides that i've been playing pretty aggressive but not crazy. I have about 600 in front and villain has about 4004 limpers i limp with Q9 of hearts guy to my left limps and button raises to 13, everyone calls. The pot is now ~$90Flop is 10h 7s 4h checks to the button who bets 50, folds to me and i raise to 200. Here is where it gets interesting. The guy thinks for about a minute and then says " Do you have aces" which
  3. That is pretty rediculous, that has to be like 6 tabling right?
  4. I would love to know what Dwan would have done if Eastgate had called the 100k on the turn. The fact that Eastgate has 500k behind is the reason he folded but if he just calls on the turn its going to take a lot of balls for dwan to bluff shove 300k+ on the river. This might sound bad but Eastgate calling on the turn and folding to a river bet might be best because his hand would look so rediculously strong after calling on the turn. Added to this Eastgate has a history of being passive with his big hands like the trip sixes hand earlier. I don't think Dwan can shove the river if Eastgate

  6. Yeah i made a flush on the end. The way i played the hand i can easily have a boat on the river. If he called on the turn with Ax of clubs i think a check on a paired river is reasonable. I was thinking of just throwing out something small like 100 but if i get checkraised i hate my life and if i shove its going to be very hard for him to call with anything. I think it comes down to whether or not i think he'll checkraise to a bet of 100 and thats going to have to be a pretty small percentage to make the bet worth while.
  7. The reason i raised 100 more instead of 200 more is because i thought his range included a lot of 2 pairs and flush draws which i didn't want him to get rid of. I was hoping he'd call and try to draw to a boat or a flush. I think betting 200 makes him fold everything except for 33.
  8. Live 1-2 effective stacks are about $600. I raise to 10 from UTG+2 with K10c. I have a very tight image. 2 callers and the small blind calls. Small blind has been starting to play more aggressive since he got a stack, but i don't think he's been playing very well. Flop is QcJh3cChecks to me i bet 25, sb calls.Turn is the AdSb checks i bet 40 and he quickly raises 50 more. I think about it for a little while and put 100 on top. He says "I know you have K10" but calls pretty quickly anyway.River is the JcSb checks pretty quickly. He has ~260 left and there is ~470 in the pot. What do i
  9. This is what i'm thinking too. The thing is i notice in these spots that a lot of players get the feeling that they are getting bullied and almost never fold to the last bet after being raised twice. I actually think that there might be a lot of value in just shoving here representing a bluff because so often people are going to either put me on something like a set or nothing and call. What do you think?
  10. Live 1-2 NL game. The game has been unusually aggressive so far as half the table is waiting to get on a 2-5. Villain is in her late 20s. Has been very aggressive and was caught bluffing a couple times. Villain limps UTG+1 and another limp. I raise to 15 from middle position with AQ. Folds around to villain and she calls. Effective stacks $300.Flop is 2c 5c As rainbowShe leads for 10 i raise to 40 she calls.Turn is KdShe leads for 15 i raise to 60 she callsRiver is 10sShe checks. Can i value bet here?
  11. While you're right about people calling quickly on draws, i also notice people like to call really quickly for intimidation when they have a marginal hand and they don't want to get bet into again.
  12. Just sat at a live 1-2 table no reads on anyone. Only thing i know about villain is that he's in his 20s. Effective stack sizes are ~ $180.Two limps, i raise to $9 from 7th position with AJo, button calls, BB and two limpers also call. Flop is Ad Kd 3d I have no diamonds. Checks to me i bet 25, button calls and others fold.Turn is JcI lead for $50 and he calls pretty quicklyRiver is 5cI have about $90 left and i come to the conclusion that i'm not folding to any bet from him so i shove. I know this is a read dependent situation but what do you think about this line in general. I think

  14. one thing you'll learn after playing 1-2 for a while is that going over 2nd level thinking is going to lose you a lot of money against these types of players
  15. You can break it down to this. If you have 99 on a board of 8910 with a flush draw and your opponent checks the board texture is such that he will call or raise you with a wide range, the majority of which you are beating. For example lets say he has something like 10J. Any bet you make is +ev no matter what happens on subsequent streets. It doesn't matter if you end up losing the hand because you made the bet in a spot where over the long run you will make money. Obviously in order to maximize your ev you should be betting the largest amount that he will call or raise you. Any time you
