  1. just recently found torrents for james blake's early EPs. i like most of them better than his recent s/t album.
  2. hey guys, been a while. i'm back in south america now, about to go wwoof for a while in uruguay.decided since i'm of age now, to drop the adoption line in my sig. dont take it personal tim or brett.hope everyone is well, seems to have slowed down mightily in here.-jim
  3. madlib never ceases to amaze me. you would think someone who smokes that much weed could never release this much music.
  4. snatched this wu-tang beatles mashup album. verdict: pretty cool. samples aren't too forced/mashup-y. and criminology are probably my favorites
  5. agree/disagree"Idiot Wind" off Blood On The Tracks belongs in the pantheon of GREAT dylan songs
  6. love the love for NCFOM, TWBB, mulholland drive, etc. but here are some i liked and didnt see on either ebert or the avclub lists:afterlife- koreedanobody knows- koreedakairo- kyoshi kurosawala cienaga- lucrecia martelinland empire- lynchcoffee and cigarettes- jarmuschmemories of murder- joon-ho bongmister lonely- korinegeorge washington- david gordon greenold joy- reichardtdonnie darko- kellyrequiem for a dream- aronofskyplus basically everything werner herzong, michel gondry, and the coen bros have made this decade
  7. just finished brothers karamazov. all in all, it's a little bloated, but is definitely epic in the best way.
  8. also, i don't know who recommended Baby Huey and the Babysitters, and i have a vague recollection it might not even have been in this thread, but thanks. 'hard times' is insanely good.also for mashup-lovers, the hood internet is usually very hit-or-miss for me, but is masterful. also, is neat.
  9. meth's verse on new wu was even nicer for me, mostly because i always expect ghost to kill it "auditorium" ft. slick rick is the standout track for me. madlib beat+mos def+slickrick=yeah!
  10. darwin's nightmare- from the website: "Some time in the 1960's, in the heart of Africa, a new animal was introduced into Lake Victoria as a little scientific experiment. The Nile Perch, a voracious predator, extinguished almost the entire stock of the native fish species. However, the new fish multiplied so fast, that its white fillets are today exported all around the world.Huge hulking ex-Soviet cargo planes come daily to collect the latest catch in exchange for their southbound cargo… Kalashnikovs and ammunitions for the uncounted wars in the dark center of the continent. This booming multin
  11. self-titled then probably one or both of the remix albums then classicsyou might even start with the remix albums as they're a fairly good example of what they're going to be doing on 'ratatat', classics' and 'lp3'
  12. this looks pretty sick.black keys inviting some of hip hop's best for collaboration. mos def, q-tip, raekwon, rza, pharoe monch and more.
  13. i dont know, ive always found cudi to be a little superficial and whiny, and he's certainly not anything too out there lyrically.right now, im thinking elzhi- D.E.M.O.N.S.any hip hop lovers in here would do well to buy/steal/download elzhi- the prefacehe was the guy who replaced jay dee in slum village, pretty incredible lyricist
  14. im wondering if you guys could help me out with something:i write/compile a magazine with a friend and one of our features is "hip hop is poetry too", where we type the lyrics of one hip hop song as an example of how lyrical some of these dudes are. first month was deltron "turbulence", second was wutang "impossible". im having trouble thinking of a song that, like those, would actually impress random (reasonably cool) 50 year old white people who, you know, like poetry and shit. im thinking maybe something not from new york since we just did wutang, and maybe something a little more indie? yo
