True, but Mactavish doesn't get to take credit for Devan's success, nor does Shanahan for Kessel's. And I will continue to be bitter because it's sports and I don't have to be forgiving and understanding with sports :)

theres still heavy fire. Trapped heat and big fuel loads made this a tough fire. We brought in a demolition excavator to tear open the roof so we could get at the fire better. This one will still be burning when the sun comes up. But we did some great work not to lose the whole block, especially with how tight the exposure buildings are.

Great work. Thanks Chris and all of your brethren.

I've never seen anything like that first hand. It was intense.

No, I think there has been a spike in racism since the election. I think some people feel safer and more emboldened to exhibit racist behaviour as a result of the election. Will it continue, or is it just a temporary spike? I don't know.

What can be "done"? Well, we can actively reject and condemn it as a society rather than question whether t really exists for starters. Sure, that's idealistic and not a neat and tidy answer with a checklist of action items to complete, but the more we accept the behaviour as normal or deny that the behaviour exists, the more it will continue to exist and thrive.

I think most of you may have seen the CNN talking head in his tirade last night. He call this a "Whitelash". This is dangerous talk. This is racism at its best. Trump will hopefully end it

I was going to let this slide, but I just watched the video in question again and I just can't.

You watched a black man almost moved to tears as he passionately talked about an election and a country that he feels has turned on and rejected him, and your response is to call HIM a racist? get. the. f***. out. of. here. I can't even fathom watching that and not feeling compassion for that man, let alone feeling DISDAIN.

It's just a matter of taking off your foul-mouthed, beer swilling fanatical hat for a moment and putting on your decent human hat.

Day 3 we went for Sushi lunch at the Grand Wok. It was delicious.

this was Friday night, and we had arranged for a booth with bottle service at Hakkasan. The CHainsmokers were playing that night, which is probably the hottest act in EDM right now, plus Hakkasan is already the most popular night spot in Vegas, so this wasn't going to be cheap. We were able to get a "special deal" for one of the better booths in the place for a $3,000 minimum tab. puke. luckily this was heavily subsidized by our high roller.

Now, I'm not a huge "club guy" at this stage of my life, and while I do enjoy EDM music, I'm also not a "go to EDM/DJ shows" kind of guy. but, I gotta say, the Chainsmokers show was a friggin blast. The whole place was absolutely buzzing. I do like a few chainsmokers songs a lot, but they didn't really play too much of their own stuff, and their mix was amazing. I'm probably not going to properly convey how awesome it was, but I do know this night was unequivocally the highlight of the entire trip for every one of the guys is our group, and I'll leave it at that.

Hakkasan itself was a cool place. not much different appearance wise than other clubs in vegas that I have been to, but it had a really good vibe to it that is hard to explain. And good god, the clientele is "special". Let's just say I would have an amazing time at this place if I was single and much better looking. Even married and ugly, it was amazing.

woke up Saturday with one of the worst hangovers of my life. Definitely my worst vegas hangover ever. I usually don't get bad hangovers in Vegas for some reason, but this was a bad one. went for lunch at Wolfgang Pucks. could barely eat anything. went to the outlet Mall so all the boys could "pay the vegas tax" as I like to call it at the Coach and Michael Kors outlet stores so our wives would allow us to come back next year. got back to the room and had a 3 hour nap.

Went out for dinner that night to the Italian restaurant at MGM, the name escapes me. I've been there before and it is really good. We decided to go to the David Copperfield show that night as a bit of a lowkey activity since we were all feeling a little under the weather. Show was pretty good. Entertaining, but not nearly as good as any of the Cirque shows I've seen. Would have rather gone to see Love again. after the show and a little gambling, our age was starting to show again, as on our last night, we were back in the room and winding down by midnight.

The boys were gone the next day, and I was off to the Aria for the final stage of my trip. Hopped in the $240 tournament, but couldn't get anything going, and was eliminated a few hours in. Played some cash after that, and managed to build up my stack a bit before a 3-way all-in for a $900 pot with me holding AQ on a TJK board. I couldn't hold against KJ unfortunately. Didn't see the other guy's hand but I assume it was a flush draw.

Final day saw me back in an Aria tournament, this time a $125 and I made another deep run. finishing 12th out of 174. shoved 80k at 4k/8k with TJ and got called by 99. couldn't win a flip and I was out for $300. Finished off the trip with a +$270 1/3 session and was in bed by 2 AM.

next day I got in a few sports future bets for friends on the way out of the casino, and was off to the airport for my 12:40 flight to Toronto, where I had a Mazda meeting the next day.'

financially, it was a pretty good trip, because I never had to dip into the 3k that I had budgeted for the trip. I worked the original $600 that I cashed in from Canadian on the first day of the trip and still had a bit left over by the end of the trip. just had to pay my hotel bills when I got home. could have been so much better if I shipped one of those Aria tournaments (or cashed the main of course :)) also I didn't mention about 5 other cash sessions which were all small to medium losers over the course of the trip.

I'm happy to be home and see my wife and kid, but also sad that it's all over. I looked forward to this trip for so long, that I am definitely feeling a sense of loss now that I don't have it to look forward to anymore. I did have an amazing time though, and I hope to be able to do it all again someday, including playing the main again.

Unlike other predictions, these are meant to insult and offend both finalists.

#1 Eddie Shack Conference vs
#1 Tiger Williams Conference

Steelheads (56-25-1) +/- 167 vs
Big M (52-25-5) +/- 263 vs

Injuries

Steelheads-
Jeff Petry (MTL) gone for season
Jannik Hansen (VAN) day to day

Big M-
Bryan Little (WIN) out for season
Sami Vatanen (ANA) mid April
Matt Duchene (COL) day to day
Brandon Davidson (EDM) long term

It has been a while since the top seeds from both conferences have made the finals. The Big M's have quickly opened up in Las Vegas as a 2-5 favorite over the Steelheads. Steelheads team owner Chris T. has had a Christmas list that is almost complete- Clinch first ever playoff berthPosted Image, beat Mustangs on last day of season to clinch Presidents trophy Posted Image, sit back during the bye and watch Cheap Thieves eliminate defending champs Canadian GothicPosted Image, knock-off the commissioner owned Cheap Thieves Posted Image, defeat the West division winners, Puck "the Tarasenko's" WarfarePosted Image. One "big" obstacle and Posted Imagecheck-mark remains to complete the perfect season. As for Big M, there are trying to maintain an impressive run of always having at least one AHL title every 3 years. Due to the changing landscape of AHL salaries and drafts, dynasties will be few and far between, so making the most of your opportunities is imperative. With titles by Whalers in 2014, and Gothic in 2015, team owner Bob M. will need to win this year to keep the "every 3 years" streak alive. Kinda funny that most snow tires have an average life span of 3 winters. Coincidence?

As for the finals match-up, the full nights will mean plenty of points on the bench for both teams. During rounds 2 and 3, short nights have helped Steelheads as they had plenty of 7th-15th depth forwards so that decent line-ups were brought to the table every night. With the AHL finals played on mostly full NHL nights, the advantage should revert to Big M's as it is mostly a best on best match-up. Of the 7 games (42 forwards spots), Big M's will have 39 spots of 0.500+ players. Injuries to Little, Vatanen, and Duchene will hurt, but accountants always seem to find ways to cook the books and come out on top with a win. Expect some big scores as both teams will average over 3.0+ throughout the series. The numbers seem to point to Bob M's "not the biggest" Big M's prevailing over Chris T's "second smartest" Steelheads. Prediction Big M's in 6.

Good luck to both teams.

p.s. I am hoping there is a prop-bet on the side, that Chris wins, and we get to see Bob in a bunny suit on AHL draft day.

At the risk of annoying Serge further.

News flash: Political correctness is not ruining anything, let alone your great country. Political correctness is also not unique in any way shape or form to America, so the idea that it is, or even is contributing to ruining any country is absurd.

IN MY OPINION "Politically correct" is a buzz word used mostly by people who don't like that society in general is no longer OK with them being an A-hole. The need to be "politically correct" is a natural evolution that comes along with the increased exposure we have to all walks of life, society, religion, lifestyle etc.. as our society continues to develop and our actions and words become more and more public.

Being "politically correct" is really, at it's roots about being respectful and civil. Or, as you might put it: Being a giant Pussy.

There, I hope you enjoyed my liberal, left-wing kook, panty wearing tree hugger rant.
