Steelheads had a 2 point goal in the Colorado game

crazy part was they almost did it again on an empty net at the end of the game. Soderberg chipped it out, landeskog carried it in And flipped it to Matthias who missed the empty net with a backhand.

It's funny how the match ups and distribution of our scores can change our wins and losses.

I was curious to see how I would have done this round against Puck Warfare and Steelheads.

Steelheads are leading Puck Warfare 3-2. I would have beat Steelheads 4-1 and I would be leading Puck Warfare 3-2

Ortenzio and I have a little bet matching Big M's and Dealers and Dealers are beating me 3-2 currently.

Well done, Chris. That's a powerful little team you've assembled there.

thanks jay. That series really could have gone either way. I was lucky to squeak out the close ones.

Overconfidence is a killer bob. I know you're already trying to think up some kind of 'one for the thumb' expression for when you win. Ordering championship hats and champagne before you've won is bad karma.

On the other hand, the Steelheads refused to touch the conference champion trophy, and snubbed commissioner Negreanu by just skating to the dressing room after the game. This is a team that believes the real work is just starting.

Oh, I'm the furthest thing from overconfident. We'll both have good lineups that are full for each game so while I will probably be the favourite in most if not all games it won't be by much.

One concern I have this series is Ovi. He is in a bit of a slump and they say he's a bit banged up. With the Caps clinching the Eastern Conference I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some rest days and takes some games off. I just hope if they do it that they make the announcements well ahead of game time.

Ovy comes to practice in a tshirt Nike shorts and sandals. You have to tell him practice means more

I still have Ovi's phone number (gave it to Zach a few years ago so Zach could wake him up during the pens/caps series). On game nights I will be calling him every hour on the hour and sending hot Russian hookers to his hotel room.

the hookers will probably make him play better

Unlike other predictions, these are meant to insult and offend both finalists.

#1 Eddie Shack Conference vs

#1 Tiger Williams Conference

Steelheads (56-25-1) +/- 167 vs

Big M (52-25-5) +/- 263 vs

Injuries

Steelheads-

Jeff Petry (MTL) gone for season

Jannik Hansen (VAN) day to day

Big M-

Bryan Little (WIN) out for season

Sami Vatanen (ANA) mid April

Matt Duchene (COL) day to day

Brandon Davidson (EDM) long term

It has been a while since the top seeds from both conferences have made the finals. The Big M's have quickly opened up in Las Vegas as a 2-5 favorite over the Steelheads. Steelheads team owner Chris T. has had a Christmas list that is almost complete- Clinch first ever playoff berthcheckmark.gif, beat Mustangs on last day of season to clinch Presidents trophy checkmark.gif, sit back during the bye and watch Cheap Thieves eliminate defending champs Canadian Gothiccheckmark.gif, knock-off the commissioner owned Cheap Thieves checkmark.gif, defeat the West division winners, Puck "the Tarasenko's" Warfarecheckmark.gif. One "big" obstacle and checkmark.gifcheck-mark remains to complete the perfect season. As for Big M, there are trying to maintain an impressive run of always having at least one AHL title every 3 years. Due to the changing landscape of AHL salaries and drafts, dynasties will be few and far between, so making the most of your opportunities is imperative. With titles by Whalers in 2014, and Gothic in 2015, team owner Bob M. will need to win this year to keep the "every 3 years" streak alive. Kinda funny that most snow tires have an average life span of 3 winters. Coincidence?

As for the finals match-up, the full nights will mean plenty of points on the bench for both teams. During rounds 2 and 3, short nights have helped Steelheads as they had plenty of 7th-15th depth forwards so that decent line-ups were brought to the table every night. With the AHL finals played on mostly full NHL nights, the advantage should revert to Big M's as it is mostly a best on best match-up. Of the 7 games (42 forwards spots), Big M's will have 39 spots of 0.500+ players. Injuries to Little, Vatanen, and Duchene will hurt, but accountants always seem to find ways to cook the books and come out on top with a win. Expect some big scores as both teams will average over 3.0+ throughout the series. The numbers seem to point to Bob M's "not the biggest" Big M's prevailing over Chris T's "second smartest" Steelheads. Prediction Big M's in 6.

Good luck to both teams.

p.s. I am hoping there is a prop-bet on the side, that Chris wins, and we get to see Bob in a bunny suit on AHL draft day.

That was a great great read. Youve outdone yourself, that was better than the reporting on the actual series!!!

From the "this one is meant to offend" to the "snow tires have an avg life span of 3yrs"...gold Jerry, gold!!!!
