navybuttons 15
Los Angeles:Hawaiian Gardens: There is usually at least one 3/6 table going and during peak hours there is as many as 6. I think sometimes they spread a 2/4 table, but i'm not sure. The 6/12 game usually starts at around 1:00pm at sometimes goes all night, but usually breaks between 2:00am and 4:00am. all games are played with a full kill. ALL games at hawaiian gardens are really soft. the 6/12 gets a must move table around 5:00pm and usually breaks between 10:00-11:00 pm. the 6/12 game is full of rich doctors who play EVERY flop, the rest is a mix of old asains and sour old white dudes. there is a pro or two in the 6/12 game who are just total nits and if you pay any attention their hand will be face up. the games are gold mines. there's usually very little wait time to get in either of these games.Commerce: commerce spreads 3/6 and 4/8. both usually have one table going all night and there is never a long wait to get in. both games are full kill. there's no real pros at the commerce tables but at 4/8 25-35% of the people have some idea what they are doing. typical live O8. they will sometimes spread a much much bigger game 75/150+, but those are rare and quite strong from what i've heard.Bicycle: 3/6 and 6/12, both w/ full kill. The 3/6 game is as soft as hawaiian gardens, but the 6/12 is generally more rockish most nights. tons of 3/6 tables, usually one main 6/12 and one must move. again, typical stuff here. the have an interest board for a 20/40, which i'm told goes off every once in awhile. since i found out about it i've been calling the floor but haven't been able to catch it, he promises he'll call me when it goes. (also to note: they have 3/6 crazy pineapple hi/lo, which has a lot of concepts similar to O8, and the game is an ATM and a golden goose wrapped together).hollywood park: i've never played there but i'm told they spread 6/12 (and probably 3/6). i also heard they have a 20/40 Stud8, O8 mix game that runs regularly. I'm going this weekend, so i'll edit next week.Oceans eleven (san diego): 3/6 4/8. 2-3 tables a piece. i haven't played them, but it looked like standard O8.Las Vegas (from Checkymcfold):mirage: 5/10 lo8 full kill, runs almost every afternoon through early morning. game's retarded soft, too. i played it last week and saw a couple 8-way 5 bet preflop hands.wynn: 10/20, 20/40 1/2 kill, runs daily. if you can afford these limits and know how to adapt to relatively LAG play (read: not lose value when people go nuts with one end consistently), this is the game to play. the 10/20 actually is less soft than the 20/40 (the rich fish at the wynn like to play higher), but there's definitely a lot of money to be had in each. i've played these a total of maybe 40 sessions in my life and have only lost money once (and even then only three bets), if that's any indication of how soft these games are.the venetian will also run any game you want whenever you want if you get enough players to start the game. they're also running a $1 rake for 8/16+ games promotion until at least the end of april. generally the room's a bit slow, but once someone starts a list a game gets going faster than you'd think. the play here, at least in o8 and mixed games, is actually pretty solid, so you'll have to be pretty good to make a good deal of money.the 20/40 o8 game at bellagio doesn't run anymore.there's also a 4/8 game at the orleans running regularly, apparently, but i've never played it and can't comment. ahosang 0
Nice job on the info! info.......Bicycle: also to note: they have 3/6 crazy pineapple hi/lo, which has a lot of concepts similar to O8, and the game is an ATM and a golden goose wrapped together.....info...I'd love to play that!! Favourite game is actually the pot-limit version, but hey, limit is fine. Might have to play if I ever get around to having a 4-week holiday in the US!drool...
jjburdick 0
For those in the San Diego area...Oceans 11 - 4/8 full kill. 2 to 3 tables. Pretty standard O8 but you get some very weak players.Village Club - 3/6 full kill and 8/16 full kill. one of each. The 8/16 game is super loose and you can make some decent money if you can handle some big swings. Always a huge wait though.
bdc30 0
there's also a 4/8 game at the orleans running regularly, apparently, but i've never played it and can't comment.Oh, I can comment on this one. I stay at the Orleans every time I'm in Vegas, and this game is a part of the reason why. A retarded monkey with even a basic understanding of Omaha8 could beat this game. If you want to see people capping the 4th nuts all day long, this one is for you. The play is e x c r u c i a t i n g l y slow, and it's full of geezers who probably were around before omaha was invented, but oh my...If you have any patience at all, and half a clue, you can make money at this game. Are you going for the WSOP at all?Nah, I'm sorta Vegas'd out, if there is such a thing. 6 times in ~2 yrs will do that to a guy.The Orleans is farther west off the strip than the Palms and the Rio. There's a free shuttle that goes from the Gold Coast (right next to Rio) to the Orleans. Deffo worth checking out, they have a good sized poker room and 2 tourneys a day that get pretty big. Though my knowledge of omaha8 is extremely limited, and in spite of the rake being a bit high as it is a low limit game (though the rake is $1 less than the Bike, at least in pots that go to the river, which is part of the reason I switched from the Bike to HG), playing in this game feels like printing money.I am curious if there are any other FCPers who play in this or the 6/12 game at HG regularly. dluzion 0
sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but what do u mean by 1/2 kill and full killthanks guys
Mano 0
sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but what do u mean by 1/2 kill and full killthanks guysIf one player scoops a pot which is bigger than some threshold (say $50 in a 4/8 game) the next pot is a kill pot and played at double the stakes (4/8 game -> 8/16), and the player who won the kill pot puts in a forced bet of double the big blind (would post $8 in the 4/8 game) - if it is a live kill then that player acts last preflop. The blinds remain the same, but must complete to the new higher stake to play. A half kill works the same way, only game goes to %50 higher instead of double (4/8 game goes to 6/12). Zach6668 513
Usually, it's when one guy wins 2 in a row, then the next pot is a kill pot.
Mano 0
Usually, it's when one guy wins 2 in a row, then the next pot is a kill pot. This is often the rule for a kill in Holdem. In O8 it is usually a scoop above a certain amount (I have never seen the 2 hands in a row kill at O8, but have seen the win a pot bigger than $X triggering a kill in holdem). RikyRicardo 0
I just got back from Vegas on Monday and the Venetian game is super soft. i didn't read this post before I left or I would have played at least one session at the wynn...Venetian game is super soft....very passive, and some of the hands I saw played aren't even playable in PLO.... 89Q2, 57J3, and crap like that. I am going back in November and staying at the venetian.... but might check out the Wynn game. the Horse games and mixed games at the Venetian were insane easy too... was making 5-8 BB per hour depending on the session. bassplayer45459 0
If anyone is in Detroit, the Greek Town Casino downtown runs a 5-10 half kill on Saturday's that has about half the table intrigued by the game, the other half are solid players looking for some fun. The 4/8 game is great and usually runs all the time. Plenty of old people who are all calling stations.
