I was playin on stars 1$/2$ table 3 people playing at the table including myself. I sit in for about 5-7 minutes before i pick up pocket queens on this hand. This guy raises me 4$ preflop and i make it nine. He goes all in and has my 60$ covered. I laid down my ladies but im not sure if this was the correct play... I was already pot committed but in my head i was thinking he AT LEAST had something like AK which would still not guarantee me any$. Did i make the correct play? it's not like he was going all in preflop every hand prior... this was the first time he did it but he's not a tight play

the thing is i qualified by satellites... twice... one for the 215$ and one for the 530$.. i took the tourney dollars and played with that... lost a bit of that but gained it back in a 20+2 sng where i got second place for 700$. I mostly lose my money in cash games and SnGs where i am too tired to play... but when i get my 8 hours of sleep i am unstoppable.... seriously..

I didnt start with much... like 50$-100$ but managed to build that up to about 2K and lost quite a bit of it. I have about 700$ to work with and i play on stars. What type of games should i play in? i was thinking about the 215$ sunday million... i also wonder how people could afford to play at such high stakes when I am pretty well off and even I dont play at those stakes. The most i play at in cash games is like 1/2 and the most i play in SnGs is like 25$. So what type of buy-ins sngs should i play in? I dont like the fact that IF i play a 6$ game even if i win first place its not worth my t

I probably should have mentioned this before but I used to belong to a games club in downtown toronto and there would be poker,chess, backgammon bridge etc... and the same ppl would always show up.. it got tiring bcuz nobody was getting better and we werent learning anything..... so one night we just shared all of our secrets to each other (what we like to do on turn, after flop blah blah blah) and we'd disperse and test out these new theories/strategies @ diff games and it paid off... so then i hooked up with another buddy of mine who played poker and he had more interesting strats. well maybe i didnt make myself clear.... If you want to get better at poker... books are a good way to go... but the best way is to talk with other poker players... players that play everyday... I find it very beneficial to talk with other poker players and that's why i need people to discuss poker with... like the good old days... that's what all good pokerplayers used to do!

So i've been playing tournaments at school during lunch for like 10$ buyin with around 5-6 players. Everytime i usually win, and i just want to know if you have any advice to get those players to play for 20$ because they dont play for more than 10$ which sucks because or else im gonna quit.Im 16 and nobody i know seems to play for more than like 10$.A lot of people wont even play me anymore for some reason... maybe its because i took this guy for 110$ in 1 day playing 1 hour

Ok, i finally got a group of guys willing to play for like 30-40$ buyin (hey im only 16!)and im so sure im gonna just mop the place up if we do get it to go down, but the problem is that i dont have a place to play!My parents hate me playing poker, and the place i usually play is unavailable (another friend's house)Does anyone here have any ideas where i can play?like public venues or something?a coffee shop or something...? :S
