Busted Draw All in Move.

The last few days I've seen this play a few times. Middle of 400 player tourney with about an average stack. Cant remember what the blinds or chip counts were. I open with 87 off in late position, 2 callers. The flop comes 5 3 10 w/ 2 spades. I put a half pot bet in, and one person calls. The turn brings an 8 of diamonds. I fire a bigger bet into the pot and get called again. I have him on a flush draw. The river is an Ace of hearts. I check just in case he had the ace of spades and he goes all in. He has me covered. This is a huge over bet and I can only put him on a busted draw. I call and he flips over J9 of spades. I took down a huge pot and it lead to me getting in the money. I remember reading in one of Daniels Journals about him using this play and he got called down with pocket 5's. I have never seen this play work. I am just wondering if any of u use this play and if it works for u? Also when are the right circumstances to use this play? Or is it just a horrible play?

youve probably never seen it work because the hand was folded and you didnt see that guy had missed his flush, people do it all the time, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt

I think this move happens quite a bit, especially when an ace hits on the river and the person leading the betting checks after the ace.Given any show of weakness, many people online throw all of their chips in hoping to take down the pot.And realistically, how often are you going to call a bet like that with a pair of 8's?If you play at a site were you see quite a few of the same players, keep a good book on them; quite a few people either bet or check when a scare card hits. Know their betting patterns and you have a huge leg up on them.

i dunno about making that call all of the time... if an A or K hits on the river then i usually assume that they were drawing to the flush and hit a pair.... in a raised pot mainly. in an unraised pot, then its all up to your read.
