Balloon guy 158
Birtherism started by Hillary Clinton Vacines good liberal actors are carrying this agenda Global warming is a soros conspiracy A strawman needed to point the focus away from the completely failed models that this 'theory' was based on Probably anything with soros in general that one we own etc etc Seems very serious compared to what a couple of 'liberals' may think Russians tricked Hillary into not campaigning in key swing states, Any business dealings done with any connection to any Russians means the person doing the deal is now a card carrying communist who will sell out his country to anyone who takes his shirt off and looks awesome doing it. Comey Cost Hillary the election Comey was investigating Trump and therefore he was fired because of a coup being committed by the government that is seeking to overthrow themselves/something. Trump never paid any taxes except that one time when the liberal media illegally obtained his tax returns and revealed that he did in fact pay taxes which means Trump leaked it himself! Liberals have good ideas. Take your pick at the lunacy the left has been forcing down their sheep's throats.
Fenxis 99
haha now you are just making up shit Vacines good liberal actors are carrying this agenda Either you are trying to equate fringe positions with Trump to normalize them (guess who appointed an vaccine "skeptic" to Surgeon General to suck up to the evangelical) Birtherism started by Hillary Clinton Debunked fairly conclusively and only one made a political career out of this alternative fact. Oh and throw in that Obama was a Muslim, etc, etc Global warming is a soros conspiracy A strawman needed to point the focus away from the completely failed models that this 'theory' was based o Yup, keep thinking that it's some conspiracy and yet completely ignore the massive amount of money that fossil fuel industry is putting into trying to refute it Any business dealings done with any connection to any Russians means the person doing the deal is now a card carrying communist who will sell out his country to anyone who takes his shirt off and looks awesome doing it. LOL, the Russians haven't been communist for decades. As far as I can guess the reality that Trump is probably laundering Russian money through his real-estate . As for the shirt part; you are being flippant but apparently the day Trump was going to rip up NAFTA apparently the WH staff back channeled calls to Trudeau to call and convince him to just renegotiate. So apparently he does have something for barechested men? Comey was investigating Trump and therefore he was fired because of a coup being committed by the government that is seeking to overthrow themselves/something. What is more believable: - Comey was fired days after subpoenas went out (and now the messaging from the WH is that the investigation is over) - Despite Trumps calls for "Lock her up" apparently Clinton was "hard done by" Comey six months (?) ago suddenly it's a huge issue now? Just wow.
Balloon guy 158
Wow indeed. I have guy that used to work for me that was a full blown conspiracy theory nut, aliens, Bohehemiah Grove, England aristocracy are reptilian. You guys would get along great. He projects total make believe into everyday actions to prove his paranoia also. Trump is a money laundered? You guys have no filter based in reality.
brvheart 1,752
vaccine "skeptic" to Surgeon General to suck up to the evangelical) Wait. What does this even mean? Are you saying that Christians are anti-vaccine? Because I have some apparently new news for you.
FCP Bob 1,312
Wait. What does this even mean? Are you saying that Christians are anti-vaccine? Because I have some apparently new news for you. the anti-vaccers run the gamut and are in all communities. They aren't exclusively any religion or lack of one or right or left wing. They all only have one thing in common and that is raging stupidity.
Fenxis 99
Wait. What does this even mean? Are you saying that Christians are anti-vaccine? Because I have some apparently new news for you. Trump is part of the vaccines cause autism crowd but I think it's because he distrusts science more than anything. http://www.people-pr...althy-children/ The new national survey by the Pew Research Center, conducted Feb. 5-8 among 1,003 adults, finds Republicans (89%) and Democrats (87%) generally agree that such vaccines are safe for children who are healthy. The breakdown is pretty even between the "God is the only medicine I need" and "granola munching" crowds.
brvheart 1,752
So Republicans are MORE likely than Democrats to trust vaccines? Now I really don't know what you were trying to say. You link provided no breakdown for religious/non-religious, and definitely no evangelical/non-evangelical breakdown (Whatever that might even mean).
Balloon guy 158
What they are trying to say is there is a consensus. Which is how hard science is based. In how many people feel one way or the other. BTW, big problem with immigrants in Minnesota who haven't been vaccinated, and are refusing too. Causing outbreak of disease. But diversity is our strength, except with sickness. Dubey 1,035
In Fenxis' defense, the Venn diagram of "people who steadfastly believe Something despite mountains of scientific evidence to the contrary", and "hardcore evangelical Christians" has to have a lot of overlap. FCP Bob 1,312
BTW, big problem with immigrants in Minnesota who haven't been vaccinated, and are refusing too. Causing outbreak of disease. The Anti-Vaxxers convinced a lot of the Somali immigrants in Minnesota that vaccines are bad so they haven't inoculated their kids like they should. I think we all agree that Jenny McCarthy is worse than Pol Pot.
Fenxis 99
So Republicans are MORE likely than Democrats to trust vaccines? Now I really don't know what you were trying to say. You link provided no breakdown for religious/non-religious, and definitely no evangelical/non-evangelical breakdown (Whatever that might even mean). 89% versus 87% is my books is statistically the same; the sampling error is too high. The point was that it's not just the left wing crazies that are refusing vaccines (ie people getting religious exemptions for mandatory vaccinations for their school-aged kids); though admittedly most mainstream catholics are pro-vaccines. Christian Science selectively rejects various forms of medical care including vaccination.[12][13] The Congregation of Universal Wisdom, a religion based on belief in chiropractic spinal adjustments and Universal Intelligence, forbids vaccinations.[14][15] The New York Times covered the Congregation of Universal Wisdom and noted that many families have used these religious memberships to avoid vaccination requirements.[16] In a court case citing the Congregation of Universal Wisdom, Turner v. Liverpool Cent. School, the United States District Court in New York affirmed the permissibility of claiming religious exemption from vaccination on the basis of such membership.[17] Another take on it: https://newrepublic....ropping-america The state already controls vast swathes of what we can do with our lives: What professions we may enter, how and where we may conduct business, what substances we cannot ingest, how much of the money we earn we are allowed to keep… If you do not believe that individuals have the right to control what goes into their own bodies then I have to wonder what rights – if any – you do believe people still have. These arguments made by the anti-vaccination movement have begun to resonate because of our historically low levels of trust in the government and lack of civic engagement. Recent research finds that those who have less faith in the government are less likely to vaccinate in the case of an outbreak of disease. ie: correlated with people being on the "fringe" (religious splinter groups, small r Republicans, conspiracy nuts of all political stripes, etc). Yea, sounds like a liberal policy to me. It's measels that they caught from one of Jenny McCarthy's snow white anti-vax idiot's kids while in Minnesota. In all seriousness parents should have zero say about vaccinations for some core diseases. Kids who aren't vaccinated are a danger to society and vulnerable to some really nasty things. If a parent was starving a child society would take action and anti vaxxers are also doing harm, it's just where we draw the line is the question.

I don't trust government enough to say they can override a parent's wishes I vaccinated all my kids, believe it etc. But I also believe that drug companies can lobby the government and politicians are sheep, so I would never accept them being able to say we are going to inject X into your child and you have no say. Years ago I worked a film festival and met the director of a film about Gulf War Syndrome, which is the government giving injections to citizens, without their ability to say no. Not 100% convinced the injections were the cause, but I also don't think there is nothing there like I do about the other conspiracy theories. Best to keep your rights, government leaders will change. Never give them more power than absolutely necessary.

I really think that the removal of lead from paint and gasoline is the main cause of the worldwide reduction of crime that has been seen in all of Europe, N America and Australia and New Zealand over the last 30 years. https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/863558096005849088

Never thought anything I'd ever read on this site might cause me to question anything I believed in such a way that might make me change my mind... but that kind of does. The government itself works in false pretexts like a government funded artist works in jars of urine. "We're here to save you from..." is their bread and butter. The phenomenon you described in insanely plausible, if not an active reality. I do support a rigorous central authority telling people what to do, given that history has proven only a small handful of people are capable of self-governance and if your society isn't made up of 90% (or more) of those people, eventually it will devolve into a Monkeyocracy of 'democratic input' by retards (you just wait, Canada. You're well on your way...). That being said, democratically elected government is a reflection of the drooling populace, mostly made up of the same retards only with cunning and a perverted will to authority, so basically nothing they can ever do can be trusted as being anything more than a naively executed extension of the tards who elected them, bought and paid for by the greatest advocates of 'representative democracy' the world has ever known- megabusiness. Dunno... I am pretty convinced with charts showing diseases pre and post vaccines are pretty convincing for me. ie: Only reason we aren't f'ed right now is that we still have enough people vaccinating that herd immunity is a thing. Dunno, I think it's a pretty safe bet I'd rather have my kid not have polio, etc than a well debunked chance at developing autism.

That’s the recipe for success in a globalized world, according to Magdalena Andersson, the Social Democratic economist who’s also Sweden’s finance minister. The 50-year-old has been raising taxes and spending more on welfare since winning power in 2014. She’s also overseen an economic boom, with Swedish growth rates topping 4 percent early last year, that has turned budget deficits into surpluses.
