Soooo, I had some friends over watching the Celtics Magic game before we went out, and it turned into......If the league started over and had a fantasy style snake draft to pick new teams, what would the draft order look like. Here's my top ten picks.1. Lebron James2. Dwight Howard3. Dwyane Wade4. Kevin Durant5. Carmelo Anthony6. Deron Williams7. Chris Paul8. Derrick Rose9. Kobe Bryant10. Dirk NowitzkiOther stuff came up like' all-time starting five; all-time greatest Laker; all-time greatest Clipper; greatest college player; etc. Basically, my favorite night as a human being.

Honestly it breaks my heart to see you turn your back on a KU legend like Embiid, for Kirkland Kobe.

Klay AD Steph KD Wiggins

Klay is amazing. whoever in the Warriors held up the kevin love trade because klay was too valuable had to be feeling very good right now.

Ok fine...Disclaimer: No research. Everything off top of the head.All-time five1-Magic Johnson2-Michael Jordan3-Larry Bird4-Tim Duncan5-Hakeem OlajuwonSixth Man-Kobe BryantGreatest Laker...Magic Johnson. I would put Durant at 2, keep Wade at 3, and move Howard to 4. Kobe and Dirk are way too old to be in the top 10 (especially Dirk who has no business on this list.....Kobe is so good I can almost see it).

If the league started over the myth that Duncan is a Power Forward wouldn't be there and he would be compared with the great historical centers and this stupid he's the greatest power forward ever crap wouldn't be out there.

Why is it a Myth that Duncan is a PF? When he came into the L, he played next to David Robinson as a PF, and though there were stints in his career he has played Center (mainly because he is that good), he has mainly played as a PF. Nazr Mohammed, Radoslav Nesterovic and Francisco Elson are all true centers, and they recently brought in McDyess to play C. Who do you think qualifies as the greatest PF ever?

I'd keep howard at 2, and put durant at 3 I think. Big men are just too valuable. I don't know that dirk has "No business" on the list. I think people tend to under rate him ( particularly because the media has branded him a loser and a choker). But he is what, 30 now.. I dunno, he still has several good seasons left. But I could be talked into slotting someone like Bosh into this spot.

32 next month. I'd pick Rondo over Dirk. I'd also move Paul down because we don't know about his knee.

I personally would rather have Payton at his peak than kid. Better defender and more effective scorer. Depends how you make the list, I suppose, but I would make it at " who would I want in their prime. " and give no points for longevity.

I am a huge fan of both Kidd and Payton, so I'll take them over Stockton. I agree that the more interesting discussion is based on their peak performance. Longevity, while commendable and valuable and all that, is boring.I'm also going to make my lists based on people I've seen because if it's everyone, I'm just going to defer to Bill Simmons' BoB, since he read and watched more basketball for that book than I've done in my lifetime.Anyway, here's my dream team, with the caveat that it's not necessarily who I think is the best, just who I want.MagicMichaelLarryBarkleyShaqBut how about this team?PaytonMichaelPippenRodmanHakeemGo ahead, try to score on us. If Nash somehow won the title this year, how far up the PG list does he go?

Nash has a lot working against him right now. Namely the style the Suns play. I mean Nash was good in Dallas, but playing in the Run-and-Gun style implemented by Mike D'Antoni has only inflated his numbers. The Suns style 'help' a lot of players appear better than they are. Except for Joe Johnson, everyone that has played on the Suns, and left over the last 6 years, has seen a steep decline in their production on other teams. I know that other factors play into it, but I have a feeling Nash wouldnt be quite as productive in another system. So when you compare him to the greats, I am not sure he stands out quite as much. That being said, he has taken an unproven formula and made the most of it. If the Suns find a way to win it all, it will help the argument, but wont solidify his place at the top, imo. He will need to prove he can play in another system, before I rank him that high. The other thing working against him, is his production came pretty late in his career. He only started avg 10+ assts and 50% FG when he came back to the Suns in 2004 after being in the L for 8 years.

I'm pretty sure he was just picking players he watched play in his life time. Wilt can't be on that list.Change that, he has oscar on this other list. Hmmm. Odd.
Wilt can suck it, he was just ahead of his time.Wilt Chamberlain...DOUCHE!

If I had to pick a starting 5 that would work the best together, in their prime, it would be this, possibly Stockton in place of Payton.I had actually come up with this list before I saw what you put.

I think I'd put magic. we don't really need gp's defense with the rest of the team, and I'd rather have magic than stockton.

Stockton was a better shooter, can knock down the open 3. We would need one person to stretch the defense, keep the double downs honest. GP was probably a slightly worse shooter than Stockton, that is why John gets the nod.

If we need someone to hit some open threes we just put in ray allen from off the bench.

Nope it was right the first time Ray allen has shot .396 from the arc for his career, and miller 395, and allen only had 1 season ( his rookie season) where he got the benefit of the shorted three point line.

Ray Allen > Reggie MillerRay has a much more complete game. He is better at penetrating and passing, and is the smarter team defender aside from being a slightly better shooter.
