The ... part usually means you left out something that might better define the quote.

When Obama becomes president, then the world will love us again, and we WILL be able to get away with SUVs, buffets and 72 degree air conditioners!Woo Hoo

The only real problem I see with him is that he could be the first president since Jimmy Carter who unapologetically preaches the leftists doctrine of failure and (bad) compromise. In a country longing for change, we have to be very mindful of who we charge with that task. The temptation is to take whoever promises the 'most change' - simply because change is what we're so desperate for- without carefully examining exactly what changes are being proposed. Change for changes sake- particularly when that change is a change into deeply motivated form of miserable leftism- will leave us 100X worse off than we ever were with Bush.Like Churchill said- "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. ..." We're about to learn- the hard way- the meaning of this. All of that leftist economic idealism stands a good chance of being made into reality. The thing is, though they champion this now (when they can still go to the grocery store and buy whatever they want) they'll realize the error of their ways when the things finally do "change".

that's how it's written in the article
so maybe instead of quoting an article that only presents the usual rightwing propaganda, you might be wise to check into what was left out. And that goes for any articles that present the left wing propaganda as well. Our so call free press is free to leave out whatever they please in order to present their particular viewpoint as the truth.

Full Article below - of course it's much more fun to just cherrypick and twist the words into mandates/laws that will take away our rights. I have no problem in people voluntarily doing more to conserve resources in the US - we should lead by example, but it's our choice to do so or not obviously. If you want to drive a SUV, pig out at the buffet and turn up the heat to 72, you're free to do so. Obama camp spies endgame in OregonWASHINGTON (AFP) — Barack Obama set his sights on November's general election Saturday as he campaigned in Oregon, where he hopes to declare victory in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.Obama has said Tuesday's primaries in Oregon and Kentucky could mark the end of his drawn-out battle with rival Hillary Clinton, and his campaign pressed home that message by announcing a symbolic return to Iowa that day.Iowa was the scene of the Illinois senator's first victory in the 2008 presidential nominating race, and his campaign noted Saturday it is "a critical general election state that Democrats must win in November."Polls show Obama leading in Oregon, where 52 delegates are up for grabs, while Clinton is ahead in Kentucky, a state with 51 delegates that has a similar demographic to West Virginia, where she won a thumping victory Tuesday. His campaign says he needs just 17 more pledged delegates won through state votes to reach a majority of 1,627, not counting the "superdelegates," party officials who can vote either way at August's Democratic national convention.Using a baseball analogy, Obama said May 8 that if after Tuesday's primaries "we have a majority of pledged delegates, which is possible, then I think we can make a pretty strong claim that we have got the most runs and its the ninth inning and we have won."The official finishing line is 2,025 delegates, including superdelegates.During a rally in Roseburg, Oregon, Saturday, Obama presented himself as the front-runner almost without question, attacking presumptive Republican nominee John McCain on foreign policy, the environment and healthcare.Reviving Friday's furious row sparked by President George W. Bush's suggestion that Democrats wanted to appease terrorists, Obama said that not talking to North Korea and Iran had only made those states stronger."I want everybody to be absolutely clear about this because George Bush and McCain have suggested that me being willing to sit down with our adversaries is a sign of weakness and sign of appeasement," he said.He also attacked McCain's plan for a gas tax holiday to cope with rising pump prices, which Clinton supports, as well as his other environmental plans, saying the Republican had consistently opposed fuel efficiency standards."For him to come to Oregon as an environmental president, but his big strategy is to do more drilling and to have a gas tax holiday for three months, that's a phony solution," he said.Pitching his message to Oregon's environmentally-conscious voters, Obama called on the United States to "lead by example" on global warming, and develop new technologies at home which could be exported to developing countries."We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said."That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added. The Illinois senator also argued that the differences between his healthcare plan and that of Clinton "pale in comparison to the differences we have with John McCain," whose proposals would only work "if you're healthy and wealthy."The escalating rhetoric between Obama and McCain has evoked the kind of campaign battles more common in the immediate run-up to an election -- and emphasized further Obama's pole position in the Democratic race. But Clinton has vowed to keep fighting until the end of the primary season on June 3, and campaigning in Kentucky Saturday, she defended the plan for the gas tax holiday and accused McCain of having no idea how to fund it."Senator McCain said let's give everybody a gas tax holiday but doesn't want to pay for it. I think I've got the best plan. Let the oil companies pay it out of their excess profits," she said.

:club: yeah the AFP really are into this right wing propaganda game. There isn't a conspiracy in every article you know. Most of the time they just tidy things up so people don't sound like bumbling fools, constantly saying "you know" because their brains don't move as fast as their mouths. But just for you here is exactly what Obama said:"We can't drive our SUVs and, you know, eat as much as we want and keep our homes on, you know, 72 degrees at all times, whether we're living in the desert or we're living in the tundra, and then just expect every other country is going to say OK, you know, you guys go ahead keep on using 25 percent of the world's energy, even though you only account for 3 percent of the population, and we'll be fine. Don't worry about us. That's not leadership."

No, that snippet pretty much summed up what he was saying. He believes our success as a country is a failure as people. Good thing this idiot won't be president.

"so much for that free country thing I guess"Yeah you're right, americans are free. They should be free to put whatever they want into the atmosphere, and while we're at it, why don't they bomb a few more countries, free country right?<End sarcasm>Please, if the world could put up walls so that the US could only pollute the US, everyone else would be fine with that. Unfortunately, there's the small detail of the US being a part of a global community. Damn that sharing and considerate thing really stuffs up everything doesn't it. So much for that "US doing whatever they want" I guess.

On the way in to work the other morning I was listening to CNN out of Kankakee IL. The Indiana Primary was just a few day's away. Of course the commentators where conducting live interviews with Indiana people about their view points of Obama and Clinton. I noticed as I was listening to these brief interviews that no one except the reporter mentioned Obama being a Black man or Clinton being a White woman. In watching the talking heads on TV, there seems to be far more focus on the racial or gender bias by the news people then by the general public. No one I talk politics with mention race or gender being a factor in their decision on who they where going to vote for. It appears to me the media hype over racial or gender bias pretences are just that, and nothing more real then a silly self promoting opportunity for the talking heads to create issues where there are none. Get real about what's being imposed by the media. You are an intelligent person who actually lives and works in the USA...You experience for yourself first hand daily the REAL issues that all Americans face. The general American public are for the most part intelligent people who deserve the benefit of a doubt. It is the media promoting this falsehood of racial or gender bias being factors in which candidate people will vote for.I admit there are rare occasions when a reporter gets a hold of a fellow American who obviously is lacking ability for self respect, self introspect, is woefully uninformed. With complete inability to intelligent thinking or speaking on the matter, the person opens their mouth to speak anyway. I cringe when this type of interview unfortunately is released on the air by the media as if this is what all Americans are thinking. I know it to be true that Americans are very trusting. We want to believe almost to a fault. We are taken advantage of by our media, our government, our leaders lie to us, other nations abused us, hurt us with aggression, and for many we've forgive enormous debts owed to us. BUT despite all we still want to believe,If you being a fellow American can speak about Obama or Clinton in factual informed terms, then I am listening. In truth, what do you really know about either one of them? No, I am NOT a reporter.

All of this says that you need an education. That probably won't happen, but if you would maybe read more, that would help. Maybe. I'm not holding my breath. I will help. Start with the fact that China pollutes more than we do and go from there. Start thinking about what it takes to grow, etc. Then look into little things, like if we do nothing in the Middle East it's our fault, because we can, if we do something it's "Why are you doing that?" Media worldwide can piss and moan all they want but when someone is in a pickle, who do they call? You got it, the U.S. Across the board, this place is awesome. Does anyone allow more immigration? No. If your house was on fire where would you want to be living? Think about those things and then suck it, hard.

Wow, I never thought someone could write such a long and be wrong in everything they wrote. Let me go through each thought."All of this says that you need an education. That probably won't happen, but if you would maybe read more, that would help. Maybe. I'm not holding my breath." - well this makes no sense and sounds like it was written on the walls of a mental institution, 'nuff said. "I will help" - no you won't."Start with the fact that China pollutes more than we do and go from there." - Ok, everyone, anyone who is not China raise your hands. Congratulations, you may pollute as much as you like since you are not the number 1 polluter. Great solution."Start thinking about what it takes to grow, etc. " - Referencing the original comment, I'm quite surprised that driving unnecessary large cars and using power to keep your home at the optimal heat is essential for growing the country. Educate me on this, since you may not have told me everything that would make this make sense, then again, you may just not have thought it through."Then look into little things, like if we do nothing in the Middle East it's our fault, because we can, if we do something it's "Why are you doing that?"" Not really. If the US did nothing in the middle east, I don't consider it US's fault, yet doing something constructive it would always be a positive. Bombing the crap out of a country for no reason, tends to get some countries a little more miffed than they already were. I come from Australia who backed the attack with the US in the first place, but at least I can say my views differ from the government and I don't blindly follow what they do. "Media worldwide can piss and moan all they want but when someone is in a pickle, who do they call?" I dunno, Ghostbusters? For some education for you, the US isn't involved in all the world's problems (even though they might like to). East Timor was invaded by Indonesia a few years ago when they declared their independence and Australian soldiers came in to help the East Timorese. There may be similiar situations where this could be happening overseas, but I don't keep up to date with all world news, but I doubt you do either. "You got it, the U.S. Across the board, this place is awesome." - Well I can't agree or disagree with this, I've never been there. I do think my country is pretty good too."Does anyone allow more immigration? No." So basically the US is the easiest country in the world to get into? I suspect that if you were to immigrate to Rwanda or US, it might be a little easier to get into Rwanda. I have had friends that have come to Australia that have said it was easier to get into Australia than the US. I'm not sure what the statistics are for immigration for every country in the world, but maybe you could educate me."If your house was on fire where would you want to be living?" Well if I got burnt, I definately wouldn't want to be in the US, since I might have trouble getting treated due to the poor health system. If you are implying that no other country has a fire service, you may want to take a trip overseas sometime. There are lots of big red shiny trucks in other countries too.And it seems your vast education has led you to be able to end such great arguments with "Think about those things and then suck it, hard." - one for the highlight reel. Where did you read that? Was that one of Shakespeare's? Maybe I should read more. I found it hard to come back from that one, oh and the whole fire thing kept me thinking for a while too.I think I am starting to realise why some Americans may not like Barack Obama, maybe cause they don't recognise intelligence when they see it and just feel that he is "speaking all weird-like".

When you take him off the Teleprompter he really says a lot of dumb things. Don't think you would elect someone down under to the highest office in the land with zero experience.
