  1. Just talked to Villain ... he tells me he would have called regardless, so I guess it was a situation of getting cold decked more than anything. Would have preferred him to have KK, because an A hit the flop!! Oh well, it was fun! Thanks again for the responses.Chris
  2. Thanks all for the replies. Just a short recap of my night. Fluctuated between 7000 chips and 5000 chips for the first 2.5 levels. Toward the end of level 3, blinds are at 200/400, I look down at AJ off from the button. At this point, there were only 5 players at my table, all folds to me. I raise to 1000, had a starting stack of about 5500 for the hand. SB folds, BB (who is my business partner, and someone I think I can read well) raises me to 2500 total. Looking at him, he seemed to be making a play on me with nothing, so I re-raised all in, and he called (leaving himself about 2000 b
  3. Hi all -Longtime lurker, infrequent poster. I'm playing in the final night of a tourney next Wednesday. It's a freeroll / bar league thing, with starting stacks dependent upon results through 6 weeks of play. Here's the relevant information:My starting stack: 5,800 (I only played 1 of 6 weeks, ending 4th place out of about 18 players).Average stack: 7,781Blinds: 25/50, 15 minute levels, blinds double each level (literally, it goes 50/100, 100/200, 200/400, 400/800, etc. to the end - antes never come into play).27 players starting at 4 tables, so starting 7 handed with one 6 handed table. F
  4. Whoa, easy fella. I'm not in any way judging his faith. I simply asked for a response from him, to get his view on divorce in light of his religious beliefs that he professed. Trust me when I say, I'd never getting into a shouting match about "who's the better Christian" with anyone, DN or otherwise. Thanks for your exemplary use of the English language, by the way, by conjuring up the word "retard" as your take on my intellect. cdd
  5. I don't want to hijack this thread, but here's the Biblical perspective on both judgment of others and on divorce. I hope DN takes the time to respond, because I suspect I'm not the only one wondering about his take on this.A. Judgment. "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things." Romans 2:1So I acknowledge that I should not judge DN for his actions. However, I do think it is permissible for a Christian to question another Christian's motiva
  6. I've been reading this thread trying to find someone who raised this issue, and I'm glad I've found it. I'll put my flame suit on, but I do have to say that I am disappointed in this news. Part of the reason I follow FCP and DN is because of DN's professed faith as a Christian. Sorry to say, DN, but the actions of you and Lori in this situation are not Christian-like. I won't bore you with all of the details, but suffice it to say that Christians believe divorce is a sin unless one of the parties commits adultery, or unless one party is a Christian and the other is not. Unless there's som
  7. The Krablar goes down early: (I know, not Daniel or and FCP'er, but an FCP topic nonetheless)First Elimination of the DayThe first victim of the day was Tom Daly, who pushed all-in on the first hand with Ks3s and was called by his opponent who held Ad8s. Flop: AhAcJd. The turn was the Qc, giving Daly a straight draw, but the 4c on the river sealed his fate.
  8. Sounds like the PGA Tour's definition of Tiger Woods' "win streak" ... which currently stands at 6 wins, though he has lost at least twice that I can recall since his last PGA Tour "win."
  9. Anyone know if DN survived Day 1 of Event 5? I searched this forum, cardplayer, poker pages, and poker wire, and no one had any results. I know it's not a marquee event, but I thought maybe DN or his assistants would have posted results. I'm also assuming he didn't survive, given that cardplayer listed "notable players" in the field, but not DN. However, on the video update on cardplayer for Event 5, the reporters noted that DN was in the field.Flame away ... I'm a noob ... blah blah blah ... just let me know how he did.cdd
  10. I still can't do the merge thing ... anyone with any pointers? Does it matter than I'm using Mozilla and not IE?
  11. I'm not that far yet, but the President of Finland, according to Google, is Tarja Halonen. With that help, what is the 3-word phrase off of Oprah Winfrey?
  12. Before I reply, I admit I'm a newbie to the forum, and a relative newbie to the game. However, one thing I have learned from these forums is that the test for a suckout is who was ahead when the money went in. In this case, you're wrong in saying that she sucked out on the flop. You raised preflop and she called, but the money was not all in at that point. According to your post, your pushed AFTER the flop, at which point you were behind (pair of K's v. 2 pair). You sucked out hitting the 7 on the river. To repeat ... a person sucks out when they are BEHIND when the money goes in, which i
  13. And the flaming begins ... I guess I'm a noob who's not in the "in crowd" on FCP, but whatever. royal called the topic broccoli, said that the action that I described was ridiculous, and basically took the position that friend lost. Suited took my side of the debate and agreed with me. Boy, if that isn't a distinction, I don't know what is.I'm done with thie topic. Thanks for the insight.cdd
  14. Suited_Up: I agree with your analysis 100%. I must not have explained the situation very well previously, because it baffles me that people can say on one hand, you declare all-in, push your chips, and then have your cards mucked by the dealer, but on the other hand, in doing so, you haven't protected your hand? I didn't get it.To Royal Tour: I think the distinction that I may not have portrayed very well is that the entire table had folded to the SB, who pushed all-in BEFORE friend, who then all declared "all-in" while pushing his entire stack over the line, from the BB. Therefore, there
  15. For those of you calling BS to my story ... humor me, pretend it happened, put yourself in my Friend's shoes, whatever, but please give me a response of some sort.Somehow, I just can't accept the "his cards hit the muck, his hand is dead" explanation without returning Friend's chips to him. I agree in the first instance, that if the dealer screws up, mucks the hand, and the cards hit the muck, the hand is dead. However, if that is the case, I cannot see Friend losing all of his chips. Seems to me that if an all-in bet is made over the top of an all-in bet, a showdown has to take place. Cor
