Because they have enough oil to survive for the next 10,000 years without needing any other forms of energy.So why do they want Nuclear power?To make bombs and be one of the big boys.To say that the US shouldn't be the only one with bombs because we might do something bad is ignoring facts.1st; We are the only country in the world that has never taken over the country we defeated in a war. We have actually spent brazzillions rebuilding and helping the countries after we kick their butts. ( Mexico doesn't count because we only took Texas, New Mexico, Arizone and parts of California, they kept TJ, which is a fair trade.)2nd; We cannot be isolationist again. We tried it early in WW1 and 2, We are part of the world, we have a responsibility to be active in it. And if people want to call us the World's Police, then so be it. We kind of are, who else will be there if not us?3rd; What do we do if Israel is nuked? Which is the goal of many people seeking nuclear power. Do we sit back and say bummer man? Do we say hey you guys knock it off and not sell them game boys? Or do we nuke them back for being bullies? Better to not face this problem and just keep nukes from their mischevious little hands.4th; Most of these people have no modern infastructure to handle the responsibility of a nuclear disaster ie Chernobyl. So here the US is again, cleaning up someone elses mess.5th; The only countries stupid enough to sell the stuff they need to make nukes are Russia, China, Germany and France. And I think all four of them are jerks so I just want to spite them.6th; Because as more people get nukes, all the more reason to spend quabillions on Star Wars, which is a cash cow money sucker that will break us. Anytime NASA gets a check, watch it burn it up. Rather spend money on Cow Flatualance studies.

Whats pathetic is how eurotrash likes to say SAVE US SAVE US when ever someone comes along and takes over their country and sleeps with their women, then after we win them back their 2nd world standard living quarters, they sit back and say the US is so stuck up...If the US dissapeared, the rest of the world would collapse when they realize that without the United States Military around to fight off the wolves, they can't just spend a token amount on their military and be safe. i don't really want to weigh into the politics of this one, because i don't think it is necessary.countries that don't already have nuclear (or as Bush says, "nucular") capabilities should not be allowed to have them, simply because the world would be a more dangerous place. it might not be fair, but it is up to nuclear-enabled countries to prevent it from happening.

I agree with the above: the fewer countries that have nukes the better. And threatening to attack a country is the quickest way to motivate it to acquire nuclear weapons.But I think every country should have the right to pursue nuclear energy.
