Something like that...Regardless of the minor effort I put into that post, to receive such critique from a pair of douches like that really doesn't faze me. I'm not trying to be Joyce (the style is nothing like it, BigD, so your comparison means less than nothing); I'm simply trying to convey a remembrance of a time when the internet wasn't full of rabid retards who shit on things they don't like for no reason at all (ie: Grantland has some inspiring, old school writing). And Brvhrt, you have no sense of humour whatsoever. I feel sorry for you. So pathetic. At least BigD has some semblance of one, but he's still a dick, albeit a tiny one. BigD Littledick would be your GoT name.

I know what you tried to convey. It's not what you convey'd, tho.

Yeah brv, you need a more evolved sense of humor.. Try making a few dick puns, it will impress the ladies.

I liked this article about LA Noire. The main character is a jerk.I like what I've read at the site, but I wonder if anyone is trying to write a good, thoughtful article thats >5000 words.

It's been a little NBA heavy for my tastes this last week, and nothing has come close to the greatness of a few of the articles that came out in the first two days of the site, but I am still really enjoying it.

Dang it SJ, I can't believe you aren't already discussing the multiple articles that were posted lately. First up, let's talk about Will Smith and QT,"Just last month, a story circulated around Hollywood that Quentin Tarantino was desperately pursuing Smith as the lead for his next movie, Django Unchained, in which a freed slave teams up with a German bounty hunter to find his wife and ends up killing a bunch of plantation owners along the way. Supposedly the script is incredible. Supposedly Smith's agents at CAA and even his manager begged him to play Django. And supposedly, Smith turned it down. He didn't want to risk what he had. He didn't want people to meet Angry Slave Will Smith. He didn't want to mess with a sure thing."I mean, I'm sure it's a great script... but seriously? It sounds like an exact replica of Inglorious Basterds. I'm not happy about that.BTW, QT is now going to sign Jamie Foxx.... http://insidemovies....ango-unchained/

I'm going to ignore my trepidations about that movie and just trust in Tarantino to deliver something awesome.

This site has some terrific writing: classically styled in a pastoral, "stalk of grass in the mouth while watching the wind blow" kind of way, the words flow off the page and into your brain like a soothing ointment, rather than a glove slap to the face. Points and opinions expressed seem void of the badgering so common today in sports writing. Even if you don't agree with a point of view, the method of expression makes you think, I mean really stop and think, that the writer's view is valid and it usually is. Taking a stance, a strong opinion, an unflinching stare-down of the writer's fact vs your fiction, yet offered in such a generous way as to expand not just one's sports universe, but the meaning of one's existence.
Can't tell if serious.

At the risk of drawing more wrath upon myself from assholes like Brv, Theraflu and the rest of my hate club, I will say this about what I wrote:It's serious, in terms of me trying to express my appreciation for the generally good quality of writing on Grantland. It reminds me of things that don't exist any more and keeps me hopeful that certain elements of perception are never lost. My words are meant to be allegorical and allusive. My words may not be great, or even good, but at least I had the guts to put a little style into my post, instead simple facts or statements like "Good article" or "I thought that was well written". If only one person read my words and said "I think I get it", then I am happy. I don't need unoriginal, gutless chumps like Brvhrt to like me or my posts.

I don't think I've read anything on this site since the first couple days, except for the fantasy reality TV league stuff...until today. The Shia column was pretty unnecessary. What was the point of that? They just trashed a 25 yr old actor for what reason. Seems like everything I've read on this site is really negative for no apparent reason.

I probably totally disagree with your overall assessment, (I'm not even sure how you are making your claims, since you even admit that you haven't read anything for weeks) but just for the record I have a very negative opinion of Molly Lambert and her style, so I guess we kind'of agree about her. However, I would be very careful about just lumping all these very established writers together, just because they have an article published on the same site. But to comment specifically about the Shia article... did you read the Details article that it's based on? I mean, he sounds like a HUGE douchebag....

Details Magazine said:

"Asked if he hooked up with Fox, LaBeouf nods affirmatively. "Look, you're on the set for six months, with someone who's rooting to be attracted to you, and you're rooting to be attracted to them," he explains. "I never understood the separation of work and life in that situation. But the time I spent with Megan was our own thing, and I think you can see the chemistry onscreen." When I inquire about Fox's status at the time with her longtime boyfriend, Brian Austin Green, LaBeouf replies, "I don't know, man. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. . . ."—repeating the phrase exactly 12 times with various intonations, as if trying to get it just right. Finally, he says, "It was what it was."• • •Whatever audiences think of Dark of the Moon—which LaBeouf swears is by far the best of the three Transformers films—the actor is plainly relieved to have fulfilled his commitment. Not that it isn't a comfortable existence, being one of the most reliable earners in Hollywood—last year he topped Forbes' "Best Actors for the Buck" list, which means his asking price of $15 million per film is considered a bargain. But LaBeouf, who also starred in Disturbia and Eagle Eye, isn't in it for the money. After a number of well-compensated roles that did little to showcase his talent, he is aware that he still has plenty to prove. "I am trying to impress myself," LaBeouf says. "I have yet to do it."As a result, he's gotten choosy. He says he's done with the action genre. Not only did he walk away while in talks for The Bourne Legacy and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, he says he lost interest during negotiations to appear in Oscar bait like 127 Hours and The Social Network. While they were all fine movies, he says, "I'm looking for Warren Beatty—type game changers."
