Fun series, but I thought the CST should have gone to Pisani, Peca or Pronger. Canes played a great team game, with no standout performances except the nebulous "leadership" factor BrindAmour brought to them.Ward played well, especially for the situation, but Markinnen/Roloson played better, being tested far more often than Ward. His toughest save I remember from the game was the deflection off his own man. His best save of the series probably wasnt really a save, when he picked the puck out of the air probably, but inconclusively, behind the goalline on the 3 on 1 in game 6.Edmonton's power play was especially dismal. They seemed too focused on setting up the pass across the crease to the left slot instead of taking the opportunities where they arose. All in all it was a lackluster playoffs for goalies..not a huge surprise given how many playoff rookie goaltenders were out there. Bryzgalov (sp?) was the only real standout, though I thought Roloson's was a great story in the making till he went down.

I hate when the CST goes to a goalie unless he was clearly the best player. That wasn't the case here though. If I had to give it to an Edmonton player it would be Pisani. What about Staal for the trophy?

I agree. Ward played well, and obviously was the most valuable, but goalies play more than twice as much as nearly every other player - of course they'll be more valuable.I don't know about "leadership" but I'd give it to Brind'Amour based mostly on his playing time, and how all-around excellent he played in such a large amount of time. Having said that though, he wasn't fantastic or anything, but the Canes really had no deserving candidates.
Long signatures are really annoying.

Err if Cam Ward didnt get it, it would have been a travesty. Remember its the playoffs MVP, not the finals MVP. If it werent for Ward completely standing on his head they don't even get out of the first round let alone win a cup. As far as giving it to an edmonton player... a losing player only wins the smythe if he was absolutely the biggest factor in carrying his team there ala gigurre... the fact that you can name 3 oilers with key roles shows that there isnt enough of a standout performance to award it to any of them. Roloson could have made a case assuming he played the whole playoffs, you can't get the trophy if you miss the whole last series injury or not. The only player besides Ward who really had a case imo was Rod, and he pretty much lost it by being a ghost for the last 3-4 games. I didn't see Ward have a bad game all playoffs, he was really the glue that held that team together.
