Some lighthearted talk here plus this will make sure that I can read this again sometime as it's a good story, at least for me. If it wasnt for posting all those apartment stories I would forget almos

I debated posting this, because I might be overdoing this topic this week, but I made a sort of personal promise to myself that I am going to promote more positivity and try to never be negative or pu

Danny.... Thats a great attitude to have, and you will be amazed at the progress Owen can make with that kind of attitude and persistence on your part. On Feb 4, 2003, the diagnosis I got was that

Why the hate for Patrick Reed?

I love the fire in his belly

My wife said that he had breasts I said no I think he lost a ton of weight

Why the hate for Patrick Reed?

I love the fire in his belly

I think I was pulling for someone to catch him just to increase the drama, but he seemed like a good dude and played a hell of a good week of golf. Plus anyone who wears a hot pink shirt is good in my books.

Nike chose the colour of his shirt.

I'm curious about the hate for him too.

I dont know anything, but I recall hearing on Saturday that he was a guy with a lot of confidence/attitude.

He was kicked off his Georgia team, and his 2nd team, where he dominated, almost voted him off too. Seems to rub people wrong way, I wouldnt know why.

He has a bit of history..He was caught on camera using an anti gay slur..He was officially kicked off Georgia team for alcohol violations.

The rumor is that he cheated and stole from his teammates..Also is a very confident/cocky guy..

Its odd as, Tiger who arguably is still one of the most loved golfers and raises the ratings meter everytime he is on camera, has had numerous well documented problems and issues..

I think characters like Reed are great for golf..Tiger, Mickelson, John Daly are the type of people that grows the sport..

I can’t link from my phone but his sister posted a lot negative comments about him and apparently he is estranged from his family.

He's probably the first assh*le to win the Masters.

Congrats on the win Patty, now show us all of your life's crappy details for the rest of us to judge.

What a world.

So lame.

ya, this one kind of has me shaking my head.

They won a lot of points with me in 2015, and I cant believe its already been 3 years since then. I dont know wtf the point of these 4 shows are, unless they are the start of a much bigger tour, based on an album. But it sounds like this is it, and thats disappointing.

You are bang on. Apparently he was voted the second most hated man on the tour in 2015. The man who was first was the first to congratulate him. Bubba Watson

I hope this doesn’t sound insensitive or wrong. But he never called anyone a faggot. He missed an easy putt and called himself that from what I understand.

Obviously it’s a word that is ugly and has no place , but there is a difference in context. He didn’t call anyone that.

I don't know the story, but to me (as a straight man, admittedly), I don't care that he said it, so long as he legitimately recognized that it was wrong.

I grew up calling everyone gay and retarded and shit like that, because, we didn't know better. I still slip every once in a while with it, but I quickly correct myself if I'm talking to other people, or whatever the case is and acknowledge I'm working on changing my use of those words.

So I understand how someone could say it in the heat of the moment, someone who grew up in a similar time, etc. As long as he doesn't get defensive about it, like, "omg you can't say anything anymore", shit like that, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise, **** him.

One of the podcasts I listen to, primarily a comedy show, but the host often gets into discussions about serious topics, and this is one that he talks about a lot. Trying to get these kinds of words out of your vocabulary, and not jumping on people who do it if they legitimately understand why it was wrong, show remorse, rather than getting all defensive.

Well put Zach. And let’s not forget golf is the most exclusive and up to not too long ago very racist as well.

From what it seems he did apologize immediately.

I have never had a problem with how Reed has handled himself on the golf course or from his interviews and press conferences that I have listened to. For what I can see, he always treats the game and his competitors with respect.

Watching Rory interact with him yesterday, I got the impression there is mutual respect and that Rory was genuinely congratulatory and happy for Reed at the end. More than what I would have expected from a fierce Ryder cup adversary

As far as the f.....t comment, I have been guilty of that offense similar to how Zach described. Reed apparently was remorseful immediately following the comment as well.

I pretty much agree with everything Zach said.

Wrong to say it, but if you let it slip out, and sincerely apologize, I have no problem with it. Grow from it.

Serge, I don't mean to 'pick on you' or your post, but IMO, don't think it matters if you say it to someone or to yourself. To me, the real insult isnt in accusing someone of being that, but its in the defining of someone who just made an error is a 'fag' or someone who is lessor than. ie, if he missed the putt, and called himself retarded, it would be that only someone who is retarded would fail so miserably. So in this case, only someone who is a 'fag' could fail so miserably.

(if you think about it, its so unbelievably stupid to think who someone loves/has sex with somehow determines other factors. Honestly, sometimes I think its amazing humanity has managed to survive this long)

All that said, Im far from perfect, and this stuff still spills out of my mouth. Thankfully, its incredibly rare now for me, and usually when I am alone driving.

Like Zach, I try also to correct myself when around others, but mostly it only happens when my guard is down around my best friends or close family. It pisses me off to no end when I do it around my son, as I dont want him to learn such awful behaviour from me of all people.

I believe the exact quote was, muttering to himself after missing a putt "Nice three putt Patrick you F***ing F**got, go F***ing kill yourself" If he apologized for it, I haven't seen it.

I read a story about him yesterday. From all accounts, he is a first class ******* that aggressively alienates everyone that spends any time with him, including his family. And he has a history of cheating in College golf, including a suspension for cheating early in his NCAA career.

With that said, there are lots of assholes in every profession, so I don't know why this is getting news (other than the gay slur, which I hadn't even heard about other than a footnote in a larger story about him). It doesn't take anything away from his ability as a golfer, or the impressiveness of his win. I probably won't be cheering for him in the future. I also don't cheer for Bubba because I think it's disgusting how he treats his caddies in front of the camera. I have zero time for that kind of thing

I actually dont disagree with you..after I wrote that I did rethink it..Its taken me a long time to finally stop using words that were common place when we were growing up..I dont think I have ever used to word faggot( why doesnt FCP censore this word btw)..But sometimes I have to catch myself as I call something gay..I am not perfect and it happens..Like you said its worse when we do it in front of kids..However I think I am 90 percent better now then I was 15-20 years ago..

You maybe right, but if we are going to not cheer for every athlete that has not a clean cut image off the field, ice or golf course you are going to not cheer for a lot of people..

Do you think what Tiger did is worse , not as bad, or you just dont care either way?

What Tiger did was worse, but I still like Tiger and cheer for him. I'm sure I cheer for lots of dickheads. I just probably won't be cheering for Pat Reed again. Doesn't mean you shouldn't, or anyone else shouldn't. Unlike Tiger, I don't have a whole memory bank full of legendary moments from my childhood on Pat Reed to gloss over what I've read about him.

My bad, he did apologize, though it read more like a non-apology. He apparently didn't remember saying it, and then said "I'm sorry this happened to me"
