Thanks. I just read a recap of the game and it said Al Leiter relieved him. Al Leiter??? Seriously? Exhibit A of why the WBC doesn't matter to the U.S.

Sox players are rocking. Slam by Varitek and Stern's 3-3 with a single, triple, and an inside the park homerun. The interesting thing about the grand slam (besides Whitt's decision to make him hit righty where he's got more power) is that going into last season, Varitek was among the leaders in most at-bats without a grand slam. He may have been second behind Jeter.

I'm keeping tabs on the WBC more than I think I would if I didn't know two of the players on Team Canada(Radmanovich, Nicholson).

No they won't...if Mexico beats Canada and the US wins tomorrow it will be a 3 way tie. Canada beat the US, US beat Mexico, and the possibility of Mexico beating Canada would leave a stalemate tie breaker.

You havent been watching ESPN much have you? Round Robin tournament rules are different and the tiebreaker is total runs allowed. So pckt10s is right on the money.

No I'm pretty sure it was if Mexico won by less than 3-0, US is knocked out. But if they won by more than 3-0 we are good. But this is more confusing than the BCS formula.

Oh....I thought that is was about run differential or something......ah sh*t, I don't even care anymore. I'll just wait until the US plays on TV and figure it out then.

Yea I think it's runs allowed. So if they all end up 2-1 (which looks like it will happen) head to head wins dont matter. It depends on runs allowed. And because Canada is giving up all these runs it looks like they will be the odd team out.

Just said on ESPN2 that b/c of Mexico's victory/margin of victory, USA automatically advances to the next round if they beat South Africa.
