A 135k razz pot helps.
It does, but even without it, he's a substantial chip leader. I can't even imagine how good he has to be running - to state the obvious, he must have caught several big pots at the late stages. At least it's limit, which mitigates the advantage somewhat (at least that's my impression, I suppose someone more knowledgeable of limit tournaments may enlighten me otherwise). Although he obviously can't go broke in 2-3 hands like he could in a NL tournament, it shouldn't be much of an advantage in terms of the amount of pressure he can apply.Too bad DN had to walk away from what he deemed a juicy table with little over 30k in profit. Is the FT of this event going to be NLHE like last year, for layman-accessible teevee?

Eli is teh ****!! Total legend fo shoESPN are doing some absured amount of coverage of the HORSE event, something like 8 episodes!!?!imo it is a terrible decision on ESPN's part. Just showing a 2 part episode of the HORSE final table would the right amount imo

I agree that 8 is too many, but I think 4 would be perfect. Imagine the amount of donks trying mixed games...

Maybe a bad business decision for them, but I personally love it. And I would think the majority of the people on this site would love it as well.

Think about it you have all the best players in the world buying in for 50k each, you dont think that is entertaining? Stars sell and they know that stars will be in this one granted it wont be NL but I think this will do a lot for all the different poker games which is awesome in my opinion. I think the star power and the buy in makes it a good move.

Eli vs Sammy is some of the best TV ever on HSP. I enjoy seeing Eli on TV and if he makes the final table of this, I will be glued to the set.

Yeah, altoh I agree with what u said, I think ESPN have too many HORSE episodes planned to keep the general public interested. But hey, I'm sure they'll glamour the shit out of it to get everyone's adrenaline pumping so we'll see how it goes

I'm not so sure it's a bad decision. It seems to be at first glance, the obvious rationale being that the average John Q ESPNViewer isn't going to know the rules of 3 of the 5 games, and will be even more confused since 3 of the games look exactly the same, but I think they're on to something. In 2003, people watched Moneymaker win (and the "poker boom" officially started) because it was a thrill to see an average Joe bust up a table full of pros for $2.5M hard cash. But that's starting to get a little stale. These days the money is in showing off poker celebrity, which is a concept that didn't really exist in 2003. Thus the success of a show like High Stakes Poker (despite a cash game being inherently less dramatic than a tournament) at the expense of shows like the WPT, where you're lucky if one recognizable face is at a final table. My guess is that ESPN is just betting that the increased "known face" coefficient of the HORSE tournament will more than offset the hassle of having to explain the rules of a few "weird" games to their viewership. It's a gamble but it might pay off.eta: cross-posted with silky, who brought up essentially the same point, with a bit more brevity

OOPs! posted this in yesterdays thread apparently, lol.Go Daniel!

QUOTE(Tritz @ Monday, June 25th, 2007, 10:51 AM) *I would think David Oppenheim would do well too.
D. O. looked to be in good shape, but really everyone looks pretty healthy. This thing will likely go 5 days. Daniel was kicking butt last night but the ghost of Erik RAZZ struck again and DN never won a RAZZ pot, lol (ok I think maybe he stole one or 2). Erik has been dubbed the RAZZ MACHINE, and actually started dancing and singing "I'm just a RAZZ machine" to "love machine". Lollerluckbox. The tables are so sick and if anyone is a poker fan but only has a day or two to make it to the Series, this is the event not to miss.On my way back down there to play and rail some. My epic downswing continues, but this is the day it all turns around!.....I think...

If I'm not mistaken, DN's gonna need to be on fire for the first 3-4 levels today if he wants to give himself a chance at the final table. GL! I almost drafted Eli in my fantasy pool on FT, but somehow Patrick Antonious took his place. All my horses are still in though, but someone really needs to bust Phil Hellmuth and send him back to the kiddies table.

I just hope they show more than 3-4 hands in each episode. I think they do way to many spotlight pieces on players and they don't show enough hands.
