Success in the KHL doesn't always translate into NHL success so considering him the best forward is a little premature imo. Vegas has some pretty good forwards.

As for Theodore, it's mostly a numbers game and IIRC his contract allows him to be sent to the minors without having to clear waivers. Vegas is most likely showcasing the dmen they're shopping.

Taking Jin to his first NHL game Sunday. Seats close to the glass and I get to see McDavid. Probably the last game I see at The Joe.

I want Subban to win all the Norrises now.

also, it's not like Vegas has come out and said it was a merit based demotion. They just signed the guy to a fairly expensive contract. It stinks of disorganization and bad management to me, though Arp is probably right, this will be forgotten in the long run and it probably doesn't really matter.

I dont really know how much of these relocations are about attendance, or about ownership.

Attendance was down last night (which is why im guessing you asked) but thats pretty common for Carolina before the NFL season ends.

Plus, attendance would be a lot higher if this team was good, ie in the playoffs. Not enough of the fans trust the product, yet. Its been 10yrs since they sniffed a playoff game.

My bet? They make the playoffs, every game is a sellout, and next year attendance is up significantly if the playoffs dont leave a bad taste in their mouth. (ie swept away in 1st round)

Ya I saw the attendance was 7000+. Apparently Houston wants a team.

Houston, really? I didn't know that one at all, wouldn't Seattle and Quebec come first?

Or is the NHL saving Sea+Que for $$$$ expansion fees I wonder.

Bingo. Bettman salivates over expansion fees

makes sense to me. Like, if there is a missed offside, then the defending team clears the zone, then later the other team comes down and scores a goal, they can't go back and challenge the first offside.

Anyone by chance watch the Habs-Ducks game last night?

I dont think I have ever seen a game like that in my life.

1st period, Ducks were all over Habs. It was totally one sided.

2nd period...Habs took 30 shots on net! They dominated, it was suddenly all them. You cant believe these were the same 2 teams.

3rd period....all Habs at the start, suddenly Ducks scored to make it 4-2, and Habs just quit. They gave up 2 more right away, and down 6-2, Price breaking his stick in frustration.

Ive seen momentum changes, and teams dominate stretches, but this domination was crazy one sided. And 30!! shots in 1 period. nuts.

Has anyone seen official stats, are shots way up this year? It really seems that way, especially with certain players getting 7/8/9 shots a game!

Interesting observation Arp. I usually try and see most highlites. Missed that one. Just saw the score and figured Habs got dominated again.

The Habs haven't played as bad as their record suggests. They've had bad puck luck. They can't finish and their effort has been inconsistent.

Sounds like the Leafs when they sucked.

you know when a retired player gets honoured, and they do a ceremonial faceoff with the captains?

I was watching Stars-Hurricanes just now, and Brenden Morrow was being honoured. So Jamie Benn comes out for Dallas, and for Carolina, they send out....Hayden Fleury? But he's not a co-captain, whats the deal?

Turns out, Morrow used to babysit Fleury. lol.

story....

I think Colorado waiting and waiting might have paid off. But I still dont like what they did with this team the last 2 years.

To NSH: Turris + 6x6 extension

To OTT: Matt Duchene

To COL: Girard, Kamenev, Bowers Hammond OTT 1st, NSH 2nd, OTT 3rd

So as far as I can tell Ottawa upgraded a bit at center, did a salary dump and cost some draft picks.

The Hamburgler playoff run, as amazing at it was, pretty put the team in a bind. There was a 98% chance it was just a luck box quarter season but they almost had to sign Hammond just in case it wasn't.

I don't like that Duchene only has 1.5 years left on his current deal -- hopefully the Sens don't Bobby Ryan themselves into a giant contract extension just because of what they gave up.
