Re: first card off the deck rule

My problem with this is that every dealer enforces the rule differently. This is the TD's fault. The dealers need to be told what to do, and if the dealer makes a mistake in accordance to what the TD told them to do, then the hand needs to be killed and the player should be dealt in.

I was playing in San Jose this past week and you have one dealer that won't deal a player in when he is standing up right behind their chair, then you will have another dealer who will deal a player in when the dealer can see the player walking to the table half way across the room.

There are 2 big reasons why this trend exists. Daniel touched on one of them in his blog: Common Sense. The old saying goes something like: It isn't very common anymore.

The other reason is psychological. And it exists in all walks of life. Certain people should never be put in a position of power over other people. Their makeup is such that they enjoy having power and control and they enjoy wielding that power even more. There is no room for discussion with these people. They want to use the biggest hammer they have to demonstrate to all beneath them that they are in charge and you are not.
