and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

i think the context makes it obvious i'm saying most people didn't like it.

That was my point. Your double negative negated the point I thought you were trying to make, so I was goofing on you, and you missed it

Talked to the boss lady today about the not being considered for these DO positions I'm training the new hires for. Long story short she said she talked to the VP as she questioned it as well and he said to tell me not worry, he has some things in motion and I will be fine. I clearly laid out my displeasure with the lack of communication and that if I was truly valued the way they've said then why was I not at least kept in the loop as to what was happening. The conversation went on for a while and she said she was going to touch base with the VP again.

Second conversation, she said he got it, apologized profusely and said the last thing he intended to do was upset me in any way and she said he felt really humbled and upset that he caused me to feel this way.

Bottom line, yada, yada, yada.....just have trust that we have a plan for you....yada yada yada....we still love you....yada yada yada.

He wasn't worried enough about it to take 5 minutes out of his day and call me himself which would have shown more than the above did. Talk is cheap dude.

Before this all went down I told my wife that if I wasn't promoted by the end of the year then it was time to start exploring options. I've turned down interview requests from 3 or 4 different companies over the last couple of months because I felt my career goals could be met here. Now I'm not so sure. Today sounded a lot like a manager doing damage control more than anything.

damn that spiel sounds familiar. its the type of non-promise that i hear when i'm killing it where i am and they don't want to actually develop me (in a career sense), just make it seem like they do. highly used tool in the restaurant industry and was usually when i started paying attention to my resume and what the job market looked like to see if anything else tickled my fancy.

Could be. I just shake my head at how they could stub their toe like this. I've had the #1 district in the company every month but one since April. You'd think they'd be doing anything and everything to keep me happy. On a positive note, I did win a company wide contest in December that netted me a trip with a value up to $2,500. Have to decide where/how to use that soon. Cruise maybe?

This TV show Resurrection seems like a terrible idea. I feel like they made it to torture people who've had kids or other loved ones die; while seeming boring and stupid to everyone else.

I think that was after the DO position I interviewed for with the check cashing side. They have their own management structure. The management involved here is our VP who was the DO that hired me before he got promoted. He's actually a really good guy, crazy smart and really knows the business. He has this odd, infuriating habit of making everything a state secret though. For example when I was hired and started training he instructed me to not tell the store personnel where I trained what my role would be. Even though he and I knew I was going to be the DM for the store I trained in. New DO's that are brought on always tell the same story, that they don't know where they're going after training.

It's a running joke with most of us. I mean, who the hell takes a job without knowing where you'll be working or if you'll have to relocate? Just asinine.

I only have work two or three days next week and it's at a bank so I'll be done by five everyday and don't have to go out of town. So that's nice.

Napas bout to be about that action, boss. That after work local action.

Titly, seems to me the big boss couldnt give a shit less and your direct boss is covering for him and the company by patting you on the head. I could be wrong

if they can't/won't give a timeline, it's time to start taking some interviews to force an upgrade somewhere, somehow. completely incompetent of them to have you train people a rank above you. even jesus would eventually get angry about that situation.

HR person asked me to call between 8 and 9 today, I emailed a few days ago to confirm I was calling at 8:30. I call, get a receptionist, leave a number. I email her an hour later to say she can call me at any time today. I left a voicemail 30 minutes ago, as well. it's looking bad, because I probably won't have a set schedule next week during training.
