Heads Up Overpair With Resistance

Recommended Posts

This guy was pretty solid in the SnG up to this point. Not sure what I can beat, but hard to fold an overpair heads up. Heads up, depending on how the flow of everything has gone I don't really think I can get away from this on the flop. There is still a lot of Air hands or 8's and even 77's or 66's that make this play. Think about it if he hit something huge he is just calling your bet on the flop and raising the turn usually.

i am not folding, so the question is call or raise. its pretty dry. A8,.. i mean depends a ton on the villain

Yeah never folding here. The question is definitely call or raise.Because villain will be firing the turn no matter what and there are tons of turn cards that make us hate our hand, I think I re-raise the flop. The pot will be 2600 plus whatever we raise, so we might as well shove. We will get looked up by tons of A8 type hands, and he will probably call with OESD type hands too.

Ok, appreciate the feedback. I did shove here. But I was less confident in doing so after thinking about it later. I agree that any A8/K8 type of hand is frequently going to get it in here (and maybe 67), but that's really the only thing I beat, so I started second guessing.

I doubt he has 10 10+...I doubt he has a set, as he probably would have flatted your bet after the flop.Don't know why everyone is putting him exactly on A 8...He really could have almost any8 in this spot and be making this play. Fold < Flat < Re-Raise < ShoveI hate flatting here. I'd rather gouge my eyes out.

shoving is the play here. I really don't see what flatting accomplishes.
i mean if we know based off reads that he is firing his whole range on the turn, letting him fire again then getting it in wouldnt be too bad. i mean i prefer shoving but calling could be a possibility under the right conditions.
