well obviously. the thing is, I was watching it and thinking the whole time "man this guy is gonna look like a huge pussy next to iron man and thor." I mean his super power is just "being pretty strong."

Yeah I don't really get captain America. Seems pretty worthless in an inter galactic battle, but he does have that queer shield. Also he's too up tight, relax buddy.

Well, Captain America's "Power" is that he's in peak physical condition, the best conditioned human ever. It's not just strength, he's super fast, super agile. The perfect athlete. But, his place in the Avengers doesn't come from his power, which admittedly is weak compared to Thor, or hulk, or w/e. He can't go toe to toe with them. His power comes from his leadership and tactical prowess. He's the ultimate alpha male, the ultimate leader. Thor is a god, but he's a head strong, kinda dumb god. Iron Man is extremely intelligent, but he's a lone wolf by nature, not a leader. If anything, he's anti authoritarian ( which is odd, since he runs the biggest military-industrial complex company in the game). With Capt, the avengers are just a bunch of super powered heros, off doing their thing.. which is awesome, and powerful bout without Capt... captaining it all, they would lose out against a similarly powered evil super team, that had strong tactical leadership.

Im dead serious. I still contend captain America is fundamentally useless and I could have done what he did.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire SlayerIt was just alright. My friend who tends to like more movies than I do defended it--saying she went into looking for a silly good time and that's what she got. I saw it in 3D and thought it the conversion stepped on all the colors and left it as a sepia boresville.

I liked this post, but in the Avengers movie, wasn't Iron Man the real captain of the team?

John CarterI knew this wasn't going to be that great based on reviews, but based on "what could have been" this has to be the most disappointing movie of the year. The visuals were awesome, the world created on Mars was cool, whoever was in charge of the storyline should be shot. Not good enough character/story development. Bad acting. Too much love story BS. Just a horribly dissapointing movie. This could have been an awesome franchise, I even got a Star Wars feeling during certain parts.

I also thought 21 Jump Street was funny, however, I thought that The Other Guys was hilarious, so take that with a grain of salt.

yeah feel like I gotta jump in here too. the other guys was so bad somebody important involved in it should have been shot. not anybody in particular, but just somebody, to send a message. shit like that shouldn't happen. it was horrible.I watched midnight in paris this weekend. it was... ok, but I guess it never really caught my attention. not necessarily boring, but it didn't do much for me. mentioned in the sick thread already, but I also watched (after buying) margin call. such a good movie. looks at the whole 08 collapse through the actual eyes of people involved, and portrays them as people, not as evil capitalist monster pigs like so many people want to paint them. so many parts of it are awesome in explaining people's motivations in these scenarios, but I think I liked paul bettany's/emmerson's speech in the convertible towards the end: "nah. they're all fucked."

Wizard of OzI saw it on the big screen, with a technicolor print. It's probably been 10+ years since I saw it start to finish. It's a beautiful movie, with really wonderful performances.
