TSLexi 0
Hi! I'm a beginner (played about 30K hands recreationally over the past 18 months though) with a $2000 BR, and I'm going to play $25NL poker professionally (lost my job due to the economy, but I have 6 months of living expenses saved up and in investments). My BRM plan is to quit playing for the day if I lose 2-3 BIs, and withdraw half of any winnings every two weeks (the other half goes to BR building). I also plan to subscribe to PokerTableStats and play at Bovada. I play a TAG game, I only play Broadway hands, and suited connectors if I have late position or the button. Now, here's a simple strat question (I don't have RT stats software, so calculating this stuff manually gives me a headache.) Hero is dealt pocket KdKs in a $0.10/$0.25 cash game against 5 opponents. Hero is on the button. Villain 1: SB Villain 2: BB Villain 3: bets for $0.25 Villain 4: calls Villain 5: calls Hero: raises to $0.50 Villain 1: calls Villain 2: calls Villain 3: calls Villain 4: calls Villain 5: calls Pot size: $2.85 Flop is Kh 5h 8d Villain 1: bets $1 Villain 2: calls Villain 3: calls Villain 4: calls Villain 5: calls Hero: raises to $5 Villain 1: calls Villain 2: folds Villain 3: calls Villain 4: calls Villain 5: folds Pot size: $24.85 Turn: 8s Villain 1: bets $3 Villain 3: calls Villain 4: calls Hero: raises to $23 Villain 1: folds Villain 3: calls Villain 4: calls Pot size: $96.85 River: 8h Villain 3: checks Villain 4: bets $10 Hero: raises to $71 Villain 3: folds Villain 4: calls Pot size: $238.85 Showdown: Hero: KdKsKh8s8h Villain 4: 8s8h8d8c So Hero loses. But did Hero play this hand correctly? Thanks!
dgiharris 0
min raising preflop is pretty bad, in general it gives odds for V to call in pretty much any situation with near 100% of his opening range. As played, you played it fine, ship the river all-in since most players don't like to fold a Full house no matter what and V an also put you on a busted FD even though you never show up with a busted FD here. Lastly, just because you lose a hand doesn't mean you played it incorrectly.

AceRag.com 0
I agree with the min raise pre, i would hate to take KK into a 6 way pot, would be awesome to flop the nuts though. I also agree sometimes you lose pots, it doesnt mean you played bad, after the turn (depending on the player) you probably arent getting many folds from any 8's that called a 3b pre at 25NL.
