I'm trying to define his hand with the C/R...But being out of positon, I don't know what to do on the turn.I bet/fold the trun maybe..but pot too small I thought. But by checking, he gets a free shot..and I really still don't know much. Can we put him on an Ace just because he raised..no..Heck 75% of our newbie posts are PP with Ace hitting the flop.I might as well not play PP, since overcards always come. There has to be a rightt definitive answer to something so common

Determine the percentage of the time you think he has an ace, then randomly bet this turn 100 - that percentage.nice.subtle and informative. So maybe there aren't always rights / always wrong even for something so common as this. I probably randomize it without paying attention, but I just figured there had to be a right way to play it.

wait.what?you check-raised the flop, effectively got control of the hand, and then checked the turn out of position??1. read theory of poker eventually. you'll see a section about giving / not giving a free card in practice. basically, with a marginal hand heads-up, it's almost always correct to bet out of position. by checking, you're not giving yourself a free card since your opponent can and will often bet, sensing weakness. but, by betting, you only sacrifice one bet in protection of a whole pot the times you're ahead, rather than giving your opponent a free shot at outdrawing you.2. helloooooo... fold equity!!! :club: i don't like your line, but if you're going to checkraise the flop, how do you not lead the turn??personally, in these situations, a line i find really effective is:check/call any flop (usually even passive players make continuation bets)lead any turn--> villian folds, sweet!--> villian calls --> if he's tight, check/fold the river --> if he's loose, check/call or bet/fold the river (aggressive vs passive)--> villian raises --> if he's tight, fold --> if he's loose, call or three-bet depending on circumstancesof course, there are a lot of other important factors like the texture of the flop (you should be check/folding a flop like AQJ all hearts when you hold two black nines), and sometimes you'll sense a slowplay, etc., but in general, this line works pretty well in most small heads-up pots with a marginal hand out of position.aseem

raise PF. 99 has been much eaiser for me to play when I open raise it from anywhere then when I limp with it. why on earth would you check the turn after CRing the Flop and not getting three bet, bet the turn, fold to a raise

well..lets just say..I post my worst hands.I try different junk and post.I thought I was being aggressive on the flop...then on the turn..I punked out...I thought: "ok Buddy, I c/r your flop...Will you have the guts to bet now"when he bet out, it told me he did not fear a c/r, he had an Ace.Is that so bad?I've only got 2 outs and the pot is small.I fA Big mistake I made was not realizing he was not a passive fish. Did not trust his stats being so new..you never know
