ugh! why don't we just call and reevaluate and fold turn when we don't pick up at least a st8 draw. i see no real value in raising

I don't hate the check raise, but by playing this way you'll end up stacking off a lot with 30-40% equity. You make up for this when the checkraise takes the pot down. I guess it's +EV, but I'm not convinced it's optimal.

I just hate calling a PSB OOP w/this hand - non-nut draw and a fragile overpair - when I feel I have too much equity against aggro players to c/f

I did quick ev calcs w/35% equity and 40% equity, and assuming villain folded 30% of the time (which is kinda optimistic imo), and in both cases the move is slightly -EVlooks like I made a mistake, one of many

Yeah I guess the problem with this play is that when the money goes in you're never a big favorite, and sometimes you're completely crushed (higher overpair with fd). With Aces and a flush draw, the play would make more sense because sometimes you're a dominating favorite and you're never worse than 30-70. It's a tough hand to play out of position - that's why they suggest folding this hand preflop.

folding preflop would make this hand much easier for you - once you call - on the flop you remember why you don't take a shot with that hand there :-) and then say - arg why did I do that
