What Would You Do?

was recently playing a tournament in the second level, blinds 50-100. i was under the gun with AdQd, made it 325 to go. it folded around to the button, he raised to 3,500. we started with 6k, i had around 6,800.

I'm sighing and folding, not getting it in this early with AQ. Too many tards will play AA and KK and AK like this because they're afraid to see a flop. The best you can hope for is JJ or TT with which you're flipping and it's just too early to flip for 1/2 your stack. Online I'd be more tempted to call but live I'd fold.

Thanks for the feed back!.. And i did end up folding, wasnt to happy about it, but iguess it was the right play. i ended up coming in 3rd for $851 not to bad for a $100 investment....... and you're right DiamondDixie (Too many tards will play AA and KK and AK like this because they're afraid to see a flop).

Yes ... way too risky to just call here and hope for diamonds or a straight. Also way too early to flip with a potential under pair. So the guy flips over 22, you are still behind and now you know how crazy this guy might play ... which is probably what he wants you to think with this kind of a move anyway.

Give us some more info on the hand. What tournament was it? $2,20 buy in or 100k GTD. I guess fold was the right thing to do in that situation, even if it was 50/50 pot (I mean he had a pocket pair like JJ or lower). Getting involved into a pot in that stage of the tournament was to risky especially with AQ.

When I have a situation like this I always think about Gus Hansen and his "I wish I could do something crazy right now" speech :P ...and then he folds :)
