  1. I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea what players do with KQ at .25 / .50, I just assumed they would raise it.
  2. Agree, BB is rarely going to have KQ here considering flop was unraised.
  3. I'll be completely honest: I don't understand the raise. I understand that he's donk betting, I understand he may not know what he's doing, but he has to have SOME reason for suddenly betting out, and that scares the hell out of me here. His c/c on the flop at least makes it clear he doesn't love his hand and/or he's waiting till the turn to raise. But then on the turn he bets out, so something changed. The four changed his hand, but how? It's possible he picked up a flush draw to go with a low pair, but would that really make him bet out? I think this is a simple case of donk has a low
  4. I can!Raise, raise, raise!IMO you have to raise here to try to knock out a gutshot draw. It sounds silly because it's only four outs, but do the math, four outs with two chances is gonna lower your chances to win by almost 10%. You'll get the same amount of money in on the flop (or more if you get a cold call behind you) and you have no idea whether the turn would be bet anyway.I could be way off on this, but I just don't like calling as much.
  5. Hero is UTG with A J .Hero calls, five folds, CO raises, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds.Flop: 10 J 6 :spade:Hero checks, CO bets, Hero raises, CO three bets, Hero calls.Turn: A :heart:Hero bets, CO raises, Hero calls.River: 6 :heart:Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls.
  6. Thanks for the replies everyone. This was one of the worst hands I've played in awhile, and I wanted to post it just because I felt like I spewed on the turn re-raise and need to remind myself not to do this kind of thing.AJo from early position confuses me. For those of you who always raise it, do you give up on the flop to a three bet unless you hit a jack?BTW, in this hand the raiser indeed had KQ (off), which I pretty much knew as soon as he bet the river, but I paid off anyway.
  7. A9, AT, AJ, JJ, TT, AA, KQ, AK, AQ.AJ, JJ, and AA aren't that likely cause there aren't many out there.A9, AK, or AQ waiting till the turn to check-raise isn't that bright, but I see it played that way occasionally.ATs makes perfect sense for the turn play, but so does KQ, TT, JJ, or AA.Overall, I'm an idiot, and I need to start thinking more while I play. The turn re-raise was moronic.I know I misplayed this hand badly, I'm glad I posted it and I need to start being more careful.
  8. UTG folds,Hero calls with A J :diamond:Two folds, MP calls, CO calls, Button folds, SB folds, BB raises, everyone calls.Flop: 9 A J :spade:BB bets, Hero raises, MP folds, CO folds, BB calls.Turn: T :diamond:BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero re-raises, BB caps, Hero calls.River: 4 :spade:BB bets, Hero calls.Quick note: I rarely if ever play AJ off from up front, however, I've seen so many people playing Ax that it seemed profitable to just limp with it.
  9. I'm coming around on the raise. I still have a hard time seeing it as being that much better than limping, but I can definitely see some advantages. Interesting question though for those of you who would raise 99 here with no hesitation: Would you raise 88 in this position as well? Surely not 77.As an interesting sidenote, this exact situation happened to me last night. UTG and UTG+1 limped, folded to me on the button, I called with my pocket nines, sb folded and bb called. Flop came k-j-x. BB bet, two callers, I folded. Who knows how the hand would have played had I raised. The biggest
  10. Me, I'm just calling preflop. I don't like getting too involved when I will have a hard time predicting what everyone else has, and practically any over-card could beat me with this many players. This could just mean I'm not as good postflop as many of you. I would have a hard time not losing more money when an overcard hits, which will happen the vast majority of the time. And if I'm going to release to any show of strength when an overcard hits, which it usually will, then I don't want to get too invested. I'm raising tens for sure though, so I guess it's hard for me to really say there
  11. If he's shown a tendency to raise flops then I'd bet the flop so he can raise and force the SB to call two cold. Otherwise I'm check-raising the flop and betting out on the turn. If he three bets the flop or donk-raises the turn I'm check-calling the river.
  12. You guys sure do like to jump on people; no offense taken though, I can understand how my random thoughts might have seemed silly. As to the 5/10 comment, I wasn't really recommending he go play 5/10 with that amount of money; to be honest I don't think there's anything I could recommend that would do him much good. I was making a much more general comment that live play below 5/10 is never worth it for anything but learning or having fun. I still stand behind that comment and I don't think anyone would really disagree. As for more people calling you, I think it depends on what kind of game yo
  13. I always sit with at least 25 BBs as well. It varies depending on level though. To begin I really don't recommend 3/6 live unless you just are playing for fun or trying to learn. The rake is just too significant at that level to make it worth it. 5/10 is the minimum I think you need to play at to really expect any meaningful return long term. For 5/10 I usually buy in for 400. It just looks weak if you have to get money back out, and alot of times that results in people calling you more than they would otherwise.

  15. Everyone has said it already but I have to say it too...Play within your bankroll. You HAVE to do this. If you play above your bankroll enough times you will eventually pay for it. Sitting down at a table wayyyy over your head on your first day as a pro is not a good sign. I'm sure you know that to play 15/30 SH safely you need a MINIMUM of 15k.There is just no good reason to play over your bankroll right now. If you know you are a consistent winner at 3/6 then there is no reason to play above that. If you're pulling in 2 bb/hr and can play two tables at once you're averaging 24 bucks an
