  1. Coming from actual experience... When I first began teaching, I felt like a college athlete about to get signed by a pro club. "If you want me, you better pay me." But then, like most teachers, my actual personality took over which was more like, "I did not spend 5 years in college to get rich. I did it to make a difference in some futures and help build our next generation." (okay I didn't say those exact words but that was the general idea) I then thought that I could negotiate a better contract for myself then my union could. Boy was I mistaken. I consider myself a good teacher who ha
  2. As a teacher and a trustee to our local union here in Michigan, I feel Daniel's Blog is interesting fodder for discussion. I did not see the 20/20 episode where it seems that he got most of his information. Let me just provide a couple of rebuttals to what Daniel said:1) As far as money in education, it is almost impossible to compare the money we spend in our Public Schools (speaking of Michigan, at least) with the money spent on education in other countries. WE EDUCATE ALL. From the most gifted to the most handicapped, we educate all children. I do not know what it is exactly like in B
  3. This dude who was watching the game was going off about how Daniel is all talk. He said DN does no charity... only gives money. Is fake and is about to end his 15 minutes of fame... that is the general idea but it keeps on going... over and over and over. DN just sat there and took it for some reason when there was really no way he could reply to this guys stupid comments (even though he tried). Finally DN just left the table. This conversation was going on way too long. Kinda strange...
  4. Why is DN talking with this guy? It is so obvious what he is trying to do... Daniel is smarter than that. Something has got to be up... Either this is a set-up or Daniel is feeling guilty/insecure about something.
  5. AD is awesome... I am on Season Two Disc 2 and loving every minute of it. I don't know how come me and the rest of the country don't know and tune in every week. It is that good.I tried Lost and only got through the first disc. It really didn't catch my interest. Anyone know if it is worth watching disc 2 or if I haven't got into it by now, I am not going to.Another question: A friend gave me season one of the Soprano's and I haven't started it yet. Will that be worth it? I have heard awesome reviews but I don't know if Season one is good or does it get better later on.

    24

Daniel, Were you kidding about your 24 habit? I wonder that because me and my wife found ourselves becoming obsessed with the show since we were introduced to them on DVD in October. We just finished Season 4 and cannot wait until Season 5. On most weeknights, I would find myself studying poker until my wife got the kids to bed, and then we would watch 2, 3 or 4 episodes of 24 until we would force ourselves to bed because we had to work in the morning. Our daughter says that all 24 watchers are part of a "cult." So, welcome to the "CULT."Just to warn you.. Season 2 is not as good as 1 (w
  7. Nice win, too bad you suck. Or do I suck since you beat me heads up?lol
  8. I am not a good player; pretty bad actually. So bad, that I don't keep hand logs at the casino. So bad, that I actually would think about trying to learn from those more experienced than myself. I officially remove myself from the category of the next big thing. Thank you for your replies. I don't need to be proven otherwise to see your obvious dominance over me. I think your 532 posts in the last 2 months are just a small evidence of that. Your hard work and dedication to poker and this message board are greatly appreciated. I wish you the best of luck in the future. Thanks again.
  9. I am not running any better or worst then I have for the past couple of years. I was running good on both the days I am talking about (one actually better than the other). Do I have to share my poker record with you so that you take my post seriously? Just because I never post on this forum- that means I am new to the game, I am reckless, I don't read about poker, I don't study hands, I get my money in with the worst of it, I don't understand odds and I am a braggart. Is that what you are insinuating?
  10. Who needs validation? I park for free... I am looking to learn. Reality is all around me and you can give it to me in any dose you would like. I understand the luck part. What I don't think some people reading my original post is the "in the zone" part. It is what athletes say when a game (or part of a game) seems to go in slow motion. They can see the whole field and you feel like you can accomplish anything. This feeling doesn't happen to me everytime I play. In a couple of cases it has and I want to (and already have from some nice posts) discuss other people's experiences with this
  11. but if you insist that you are serious i will point you to the numerious threads on variance, shorterm luck, longterm skill, etc etcits awesome you had a great run, but it a mathematical certainty that it will not continue.wait til you get 10,000 to 100,000 hands and see what your average BB/100 is then we can take you more serious; not after a 2 hour session.oh yea read SSHE and stuff tooThanks for the info. I pretty much get the fact that over time the cards will even out. Since I have played only about 7000 nl tournament hands and about 100 hours of limit games, I feel that I could be get
  12. What is your deal? If you don't like the subject, find another one. Not a big deal! Or is it and I am just "stupid?"
  13. Yikes! Thanks for the response. Because it happens twice in my lifetime, I am now god's gift to poker. Thanks, buddy.Let's talk about isolating opponents in low/medium limit games... Good idea? Only works when we are lucky? Could cause you to go broke?Or we could talk about the feeling of being in the "zone" for a session.Or, we could make fun of me some more.
  14. I have been thinking about a couple of games over the last few months. The more I think about it, the more it was like I was in that "zone" that athletes talk about. One day I had a unbelieveable run of cards for 2+ hours! It was like I knew I would win 2 out of 3 hands. I got to a point where I would play less than great starters and still make the best hand, over and over.Another time, I was playing a low limit game where I isolated a couple of players at my table and I was able to do whatever I wanted against them and took about 75% of their stacks.Has anyone else experienced that? Is
