  1. I disagree with the bolded portions. To me, villians river bet looked exactly like a missed hand and it was the type of bet that wanted a fold. Again, I want to reiterate that this read was based on villians flop and turn action. Ask yourself this; If you're the villian here are you really ever going to bet mid pair hands, like 8x or 9x, when checked to? If you're answer is yes, then that's an amazing value bet. Even if you're answer is yes, are you betting 3/4 of the pot? I doubt it. This kind of river bet is polarized to AIR or I suppose the nuts, although I feel that villain never has QJ he
  2. I agree that folding As4s preflop utg is standard since limping in that spot is probably -EV in the long run, which leads me to ask another question; what kind of hands is it ever profitable to limp utg with, if any? Or should we only be raising or folding here? Lastly, if the overall table has been passive over the last few rotations, can that be enough reason to try and see a cheap flop with any Ax suited in EP? Obviously there are no absolutes, I just felt this table was passive enough for me to limp utg with the As4s, but I digress. These questions are for discussion sake.As for the hand i

  8. Yes true I meant check raise. The I typed out the original post late and I wasn't thinking clearly. Good responses so far. The consensus is to call and re-evaluate the river. Anyways, to answer your question, Villian is the type to raise with a big draw but obviously a big hand as well such as a flopped straight or better two pair in a short handed game. I take A10 out of the range as Villian will raise preflop with that hand in my opinion. Raising all in did not make sense but I felt I had to see the river. I have position in this spot luckily so I can see the river and continue on depending
  9. This hand happened at a home cash game. Blind is just one .25 cent blind as it's only 5 handed at this point. Average stack is about $80.What's funny is that most every hand had a straddle and a double straddle. This hand was no different.I had double straddled when I pick up . Everyone limps in for .75 cents. I check and the pot at this point is $3.75.The flop is . It's checked to me and I bet $3.00. All else fold except for the SB who calls the bet. Pot is $9.50.The turn is the . SB checks, I bet $8, Villian re-raises to $20. At this point I have about $60. Villian has me covered plus $20
  10. The blinds are 800-1600 with 300 ante. Stacks are semi short but decent at this point. I have about 36,000, villian has about 45,000.I have in the SB and am button. I limp in for 1600. Villian checks the BB. Pot is 3800.Flop Villian checks, I bet 2400, Villian calls. Pot is 8600.Turn is fun it's the Villain checks, I bet 4000 and Villian calls. Pot is 16,600.River brings more fun it's the Villian instantly moves all in. Do I pay off quads here?
  11. Seriously? If you read my original post I didn't give away my ACTUAL decision for anyone to even agree with in the first place... No.... I waited for different responses before I gave the results of the hand and the decision I made. So what you're saying is you'll make a horrible overbet bet on the river with a made hand and hope for someone to make a horrible call? Doesn't make sense to me... The right play would be to make a small value bet with a made hand in spots where you sense weakness and want to extract more chips.Based on the responses the majority of players said they would fold in
  12. This. The bet on the river screamed BLUFF. First and foremost it was an overbet. I feel a good hand would definately make a value bet, since the other players in the hand showed so much weakness. The fact that it was a position all in bet made the possibility of a bluff all the more likely. Lastly, the river was a very safe care and villian who made the bet had no hesitation to go all in. Villian made the bet so fast I feel that with any type of made hand, villian would have taken some time to make the correct bet, even an all in bet. Having said all of that, I still folded. My initial thought
  13. This hand occured during a weekly Thursday night home game. Buy-in is $25 and starting stack is 5,000. This week had 15 players. At this point in the tournament the blinds are at 100-200. I have about 7,000 in the small blind. Preflop:Two players limp in for 200, including the button. I call in the small blind with and the big blind checks. The pot is at 800.Flop: Not much going on here on this particular flop. I have a gutshot straight draw. I'm first to act and I check since I have three others behind to see what develops. Everyone checks around. Turn: I bet out 600. My thoughts at thi
