  1. I agree that the flop bet was pretty bad, I need to think more about what I'm trying to accomplish, and there It was just "you better fold because I'm betting so much". The smaller 2500 or so bet would have accomplished the same thing without sacrificing such a large portion of my remaining chips.I've heard from a couple people that I could have checked behind on the flop, but I find that a really tough thing to do short after flopping top pair, it's true that there's almost no scare cards on the turn, but there's nothing worse then checking to a showdown and seeing that a bet on any street wo
  2. Results:I really didn't expect him to come over the top, and it was a pretty tough decision. After looking at the lobby and seeing my relative position compared to everyone else, I decided I had to call, if I ended up doubling through I was in great shape to make a run at the FT, folding just wasn't an option. So I called and wasn't surprised to see how close it really was. I had outs for a split after the turn, but it wasn't to be.In retrospect, I agree that a smaller flop bet would have made the decision less one sided, and would have accomplished the same thing without putting so much of my
  3. So I finally turned 21 and couldn't wait to get into a B&M Casino and play some REAL poker against some real opponents. The closest I've gotten to this is a local bar game which is basically a joke, they play .25/.50 with $20 max buy in...and it's basically a shove fest. Anyway, I was home from school for spring break in the New England area and I convinced my Family to stop at Foxwoods if I agreed to spend the day at the beach with them. No biggie. Since I'm a poor college student, I had to get my parents to stake me, I know, kind of pathetic, but I made a little deal with them, after con

  12. Yeah, the PFR was too small, one of the habits I'll have to get out of, in .10.25 I'd raise 3x no matter what I was playing, and raising more almost telegraphed a big PP, but I just need to vary my PFRes more so I can protect my hands without telegraphing them. I was a bit surprised that most of you didn't think it would be a terrible call, I sure convinced myself that I should have folded. He had 88 for the set, without any reads though this was a marginal call. It's also interesting that some say 50nl is the worst, I almost get that feeling too, since it seems like it's a bit too high for the
  13. I just moved up in levels, I was winning solid at .10/.25, and then I won a $10 180 dude tourney so my bankroll like tripled, lol. Anyway I know that people get tighter and generally better as you move up the limits, so I'm wondering if I'm playing too lose for this level here, or if it's just some negative variance. This is my 6th hand at the table, haven't shown anything down, taken down 3 on the flop, 55, AK and 89, figure that someone will make a move assuming I'm playing too laggy, but no specific reads on the villain.PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (5 handed) Poker Stars Converter T
