Is it a problem if instead of sleeping or studying the night before finals I've been playing poker all night? :club: I think not because:1. I've been winning2. The final is at 7:30 in the morning! That's closer to bedtime than mwake up time anyway3. I think I know it anyway...

I like your line of thinking...I cashed out all of the money in my poker account b/c Sat i was in a tourney til 5am instead of studying....cashed 12th out of 498 though so it was worth playing in the last one

This sounds like a problem I've been having. Lately, I've been having "motivation issues" so I haven't been studying as much as I normally would. I think I feel this way because students are forced to take so many tests that by the time finals roll around we're just burnt out. I played poker a lot yesterday and put off studying until late last night. I say if you are doing well enough in the class, and you have a confident grasp on the material then don't worry about studying and enjoy yourself. Too many people get themselves all stressed out this time of year, and I think people who go into their finals with a more relaxed attitude can actually do better because they haven't worn themselves out. Just as if school was your job you have to have the right mix of work and recreation, otherwise you will go mad. P.S. Good luck on your finals!

My last semester of college ended up being my second to last semester of college because of poker. I played about 40-50 hours a week and maybe went to one or two classes per week. Ended up with two Fs and two Cs and had to take two more classes in the summer to graduate. I was making money by playing that much, but with tuition costs, rent, and all that for the added summer semester, it really wasn't worth it. I know its hard though...I remember sitting there reading some boring *** essay for class and hearing my computer screen say in a high voice "Come...play poker...what are you waiting for...come play" and I'd say "Ok"...then 10 hours later I'd realize that I had gotten nothing done. You don't have a problem...balancing poker and school is hard...you just have to use some of the discipline you have at the table to discipline yourself about studying. Like someone above said...poker will never make you a career, focus on school.

Man just study, school is way more important and when finals are over you can play as much as you want.
QFT
Seriously dude, poker isnt going anywhere as a career. Get a degree.
QFTto the OP: Your overall earning potential is much larger with a marketable college degree. Focus on getting the grades and grinding out your degree. Poker can wait.

Yeah Man you gotta study because if poker doesn't work out you will love to have that degree to fall back on. Study for finals and then you'll have 4 months to play poker.

well in my expernice in college Finals didn't really matter you either had to get 98% to move your grade up or 14% to go down so why people waste so much time studying for them is beyond me. maybe things have changed sense then and your final can swing your grade more. So do the math figure out where you have to be to affect your grades and if its a huge differnce F it and have fun, **** I even showed up drunk for one cause it couldn't change.

Geez uppie, I don't know where you went to school but I'd like to go there. My finals generally range from 40 to 70% of the final grade, crashing on an exam is like getting a mule kick in the man place.OP, weigh the amount of cash you think you'll pick up vs. the number of marks you figure you're dropping by playing instead of studying or sleeping. Think of how you would explain a bad mark on the exam to your parents. Also, if you fail I'm going to laugh at you. Hit the books.

real careers are overrated.here's my advice.don't live with your parents.figure out what you want to do.do it with vigor.don't half *** it and screw both upThat being said...I'm on eassy street now because I finally hit the books and got the degree. But only after some time away from school and reflection.

I know I need to study, and usually my playing doesn't cause my studying to suffer as I am a full time student (no job). I don't live with my parents, but my wife would be pissed if I failed the class :club: The test went wellI've only got one more semester left, it's just that after like 15 years of going to school I'm ready to be done. I'm with foulky, It's hard to stay motivated! Thanks guys I kinda needed a kick in the *** right there.
