  1. Simply put, I would say you are not being aggressive enough. When it gets down to 2-3 players, most likely no one has a hand it is the person who takes a stab at the pot first who usually wins. Obviously it is not as simple as betting at every pot. As the previous poster stated, do some research on playing short handed/heads up.
  2. I have to also recommend Party/Empire. The games are very loose (especially on the weekends) even up to 5-10. Many players will call a pot down with any pair or any draw.
  3. I'd just recommend playing the $25 max buyin NL 6 max games at party. The buyin is for .25/.5 normally it's $50 but party has half max buyins so if you lose a buyin you're not losing a fortune. I think a fine guideline is to have 7x-10x the buyin (of standard maximum buyins) so $500 for the $25 at party. That said back when I played those stakes I was only on $200 but even then I was an educated player.I play NL, PL and limit, mostly the former two. Yes, there are swings, but there are swings in fixed too so, as long as you're within bankroll guidelines and of sound mind you should learn how to
  4. It is too early in my online poker career to say whether I win consistently or not, but in 4 months, I have built up my bankroll (from $50) enough to play 5-10. Personally, I would avoid no-limit cash games unless you have a huge bank role to absorb the large swings. (And the mental toughness.) If you must play no-limit, start with the $5 SNGs. That is how I started.
  5. Maybe that is the exact reason Daniel did not tell what his hand was. Look at the discussion it has prompted!
  6. I'm not saying he fears Chan, only that he does not want to get involved in any hand with him at this point in the tournament. Whether Chan would call with 22, I guess is debatable. The poster above claims he had A8 suited. Find that hard to believe unless he made his flush on the river.
  7. So what were the suits of all the rounds? Fill us in if you could.I'm assuming it was "Heart"s.
  8. If Daniel did have AA, I don’t think you can fault him for his play. He had to know the only hand that would beet him was 88. No way Chan had a 3. When Chan goes all-in, he has to think Chan has 88 or nothing. (The flip side of this is, Daniel has to be thinking, there is no way Chan knows he is holding AA.) With AA it is worth the call. If Chan has 88, so be it. Daniel would still have enough chips to work his way back up. If he wins the pot, Daniel has a huge stack.Because of this, I was having trouble understanding why he would not want Chan to know what his hole cards were. The onl
  9. You make a good argument for AA. It could also be explained that he didn’t want Chan to know his hole cards because he didn’t want him to know he made such a large bet pre-flop with AA. I’m not 100% convinced, but less certain of my previous post.
  10. Hello everyone. I just found this site a few days ago, but am liking what I am seeing so far. There seams to be some knowledgeable people on here with some interesting things to say.Anyways, I was wondering what everyone feels is the weakest part of their game and what you do to try to improve in that area. As for myself, I feel confidence is a problem for me. I have played poker regularly for about 4 years, but have only been working hard to improve for about a year. For me, confidence comes with preparation, so as I put more time and effort into my game, the confidence will come.
  11. The first thing I thought of was 22, but if that was what he had, why not say so? Flopped a boat and lost. It happens sometimes. To me it looks like he had QQ or JJ and was not at all happy about how he played the hand.
  12. I totally agree. That is why I usually play shorthanded. The 5-10 6 max at Party/Empire is very profitable in the evening and on the weekend when the tables are loose. You may find yourself down early after a few suck-outs, but drag a couple pots and you are right back up!
  13. I have played in home games where one person could not lose all night. One time this guy took every dollar at the table (6 handed). Must have had six or seven boats during the night. Had quads to my boat once. Every other hand he was dragging a major pot. Everyone started playing back at him thinking, "He can't have a hand every time!" It just made things worse. On the other hand, I have won a SNG in under 30 minutes before on Empire. I kept getting great hands and everyone was calling me.
  14. I find the play much looser in the evenings and weekends. Make a hand and you will be paid off. Of course there are those times when they will suck-out on you, but I just move on to the next hand.
