Theraflu 1,035
My opinion on Homeland season 1 is so skewed by their decision not to kill Brody and foist those shit bag seasons 2 and 3 on us, that it's hard for me to view season 1 objectively. This is a fair criticism. Water cooler talk is that the show finally got back on track last year, somehow, but once Claire Danes started banging a 15 year old source, I had to get out. BigDMcGee 3,352
lol he wasn't 15, he was a college student, but yeah. I haven't watched this past season and honestly, I'm not that jazz'd to. I think it really went off the rails, and it often has loose ends that it never goes back and ever addresses, ideas they were setting up and then just jettison. Like, scene for scene it can be compelling, but I don't think the writers are good at macro plot elements. Comparing it to the masterfully complex writing of Westworld, there's no comparison for me. I'm with Essay on my estimation of that show, I think it has a GOAT ceiling if it can keep pulling off, what it did in season
Essay21 2,385
I would like to appeal this citation, because of the greatest off my Dollar Bill point. DENIED
BigDMcGee 3,352
DENIED It's obvious to me you haven't seen the Americans, so I will table my appeal until a later date

BigDMcGee 3,352
I haven't, but it won't matter. Nothing will save you here. Well, I don't want to advocate watching Americans, because I think it's super overrated and stuck in the mud now, but trust me, it was a great point.

BigDMcGee 3,352
Essay's Top Ten Mel Gibson Films 1. The Patriot 2. Braveheart 3. Maverick 4. Lethal Weapon 5. Lethal Weapon 2 6. Mad Max 7. Ransom 8. Conspiracy Theory 9. We Were Soldiers 10. Signs My first instinct was to say " What a another terrible list, Essay missed so many great movies" But then I thought about it for a second, and then thought " wait, what movies?" Then I checked Mel's IMDB, and sure enough, Mel's been in almost no good movies. I was stunned. So I stand corrected, I apologize Essay, it's a fine list. That rabbit hole did lead me down to the information that there's going to be a Passion of the Christ sequel, which will apparently have some weird catholic shit of the "harrowing hell', where jesus goes to hell during the 3 dead days and frees the "righteous dead" like Aristotle or some shit. I'd never heard of this, as I'm not a Catholic but it sounds bat shit crazy, and hopefully has more of that evil devil baby from the first one. I'm excited

Theraflu 1,035
I went to see Passion in the theater, stoned outta my mind, during a snow storm. Good decision all around.

Theraflu 1,035
Yeah, they make sure of one gratuitous Keri ass scene per season. A real selling point. This final season should be pretty good, though. Hopefully none of the useless posturing of last year.
brvheart 1,752
Essay's Top Ten Mel Gibson Films 1. The Patriot 2. Braveheart 3. Maverick 4. Lethal Weapon 5. Lethal Weapon 2 6. Mad Max 7. Ransom 8. Conspiracy Theory 9. We Were Soldiers 10. Signs Braveheart, Maverick, Ransom, Conspiracy Theory, and Signs are all great movies, and to say they aren't good is just BigD trolling.
BigDMcGee 3,352
I don't' think a single one of those movies you mentioned is great. I think Braveheart is the best out of that bunch ( i haven't seen Ransom) but it's aggressively corny. Signs is hot trash.
Ron_Mexico 4,219
Braveheart should be 1 Signs is trash but i’m not researching it’s replacement. I’ll go with a Lethal Weapon movie Maverick is sneaky good, in a fun way
Essay21 2,385
I’m glad Ronny can appreciate Maverick. Maverick is a great Hollywood movie. Love that movie.
SuitedAces21 2,722
Essay's Top Ten Denzel Washington Movies 1. Training Day 2. Man on Fire 3. The Book of Eli 4. Crimson Tide 5. Remember the Titans 6. John Q 7. The Siege 8. Courage Under Fire 9. Unstoppable 10. Glory
Ron_Mexico 4,219
Respectfully: Crimson Tide has to be 2 or 3. I’ll allow that Training Day was a Denzel vehicle and possible #1, even though it was over the top, but Crimson Tide is a top 10 movie of all time, for me. The acting is just so good, subtle, and the tension, the looks. It’s just a brilliantly done movie And I LOVE Man on Fire, but it’s also heavy handed. Glad to see Glory made the list
BigDMcGee 3,352
I'm shocked that Malcolm X isn't on the list. Figured that was right in your wheel house.
SuitedAces21 2,722
ronny, i feel ya, but it was a hard list to make. that's a thousand warnings for mcgee for obvious and tired commentary. you're better than that.
BigDMcGee 3,352
I didn't make any commentary, I was just expressing surprise. I know you like historical drama's, and Washington's performance was nominated for an Oscar, and I know you follow oscar nominated movies closely. Geez, seems like an overreaction to me, buddy.
