Bad Beat from other perspective

Recommended Posts

Since everyone loves to complain about bad beats, I thought I'd share a bad beat where I was the one who sucked out. I'm playing in a small tournament with about 30 people, and I get dealt QJ offsuit in late position. Everyone folds to me and I call the blind (don't remember what they were but it was late in the tournament: final table) Both blinds call. Flop comes J-7-4, both blinds check and I pounce and fire out a decent sized bet. The small blind who was a very aggressive player who had raised me out of a lot of pots went all in. I thought for a long while but eventually decided to call thinking he was bluffing or that I had him outkicked. Unfortunately he had pocket 7s so I needed running cards to win, so I got up from my chair and put on my coat. The turn came another J giving me trips but my opponent a full house. At this time one of the other players said "Don't go anywhere yet" but I wasn't in the best mood and figured that I was still leaving. Anyhow the river brought the final J in the deck to give me quads!!! The best part was that I went on to win the tournament because of my bad play!

lol, I had a similar thing happen to me not long ago online at UB.I was in MP with 77. I limped and the button raised. 5 people saw the flop. It came:54K giving him his set.It was checked to him and he bet. 2 people called and I decided to raise (I was slightly on tilt at this stage in the night). He re-raised and I capped. Wasn't really sure why I was doing this to be honest. The turn comes 8 and I've got the gutshot, but it's so unlikely, so I think maybe a bluff could win the pot if he's really weak. I bet out and he raises again. Bugger !!! ok, what the hell. I re-raise and he caps. At this stage there's only me and him left. The river brings the magical 6 giving me what has to be the nuts. I bet out and he raises, I re-raise and he just calls. Before the cards are turned over I apologise for my bad play and I was on tilt and got lucky. Fair play to him for not screaming at me, although he didn't reply either so what he said in front of his PC is anyones guess.

I have another one, I was at my local casino and I had KK being third from the button. I raised and the sb who knows me very well and knows that I usually only raise with premium hands says "be careful" as he calls. There are 3 of us in the pot and the flop comes A-K-3 rainbow, both guys check to me and I also check trying to lay a trap. The river brings a 2 with a backdoor flush draw. The small blind bets, other guy folds and I raise leaving me with only 5 dollars left on the table in a 10-20 game. When I raise he proclaims, "Oh! you trapper you!" I smile and then he flips over his cards, 45 of clubs. Then he says, "can I call you with the nuts?" so I show my kings and he throws the last 5 I have in blind. Of course I call with the hands visible and the river brings a 3 giving me a full house!
