  1. my advice is this:1) take the 5.50 and play in a 5.50 SNG. play to win it all or go broke. if you win, you'll have 25$. if you lose, you are broke.2)if you win, now you have 25$. play NL.01/.02 2$ buyin3)if you lose, go to a site that gives you 10$ free and play there. royal vegas poker gives you 10$ free. noble poker gives you 16$ free if you go through cardplayer mag's website. pacific poker also gives 10$ free i think (its not stated, but they have for some of my friends)Q--how did you get your BR in the first place? if you can't deposit, where did it come from at stars? did you w
  2. collusion between players during a pot would be sniffed out incredibly fast. many good players usually watch other players constantly for 'tells', trying to get an extra read on body language from weak players. if people are using signals, they'll be sniffed out.the biggest problem in tourney poker is chip dumping between players sharing a bankroll/being staked.
  3. 10X to 20X the maximum buyin is what most people agree on. dont think in terms of "times the big blind". think of it in terms of buyins.basically, you want minimum 10X max buyin and always buyin for the max. generally, you want closer to 15X.-if your game is 50bb buyin structure, you'll want close to 20X bankroll-if its 100bb game, you can do with less, perhaps between 10-15x buyins-but more is always better
  4. is the current game they are playing 5/10 blinds NL1500$?i think thats what the structure is.and boy, some of these players are bad. i could break this game so easily. people have no ability to lay down top pair top kicker/second kicker even when a player basically screams "i have a set/2pair"
  5. what limits is the game being currently played at? i am seeing 5 handed flops here where most players have garbage. i understand "mixing" up your play, but playing an 83os, Q7os etc in a 5 handed pot isnt mixing it up, its just being stupid
  6. tip 1: limp with all pairs JJ-22, try to hit a set and bust these calling stations. try play as many hands that lead to big hands only, no borderline calls against unreadable calling stations.tip2: more important: if you get AA/KK, dont bet 7$. it gets you 4 callers! bet more. bet absolutely as much as possible to get you 1 caller. bet like 20$, im sure you'll get 1 call, maybe bet more! then move in on the flop if you've put more than 40% of your stack in, pretty much regardless of what flops. (hold some restraint if you have KK and the flop is A +scary+scary and such)tip3: if pots
  7. i dont like AT at all for the games you are talking about--no limit holdemtheres a good chance i have lost more money with this hand than i have won with it.as a general rule, i dont touch it in tournaments unless i am shortstacked or unless im playing very fast. what i mean by playing fast is if i am raising every other pot against a tight table, i'll play AT.if i make a pair of aces with it, i am always real careful.in cash games, i dont play the hand at all unless i am suited. and i'll only play it suited if the pot is unrasied/min raised and the stacks are 100bb+. while this might see
  8. anybody think its funny that nobody has posted if they've lost this year?cmon, we arent all winners here
  9. congrats! you have been gussed. i think that was already said, but i had to repeat it.
  10. exactly what i was going to say. usually, it takes 2 to 3 times. you should definetly reread it later on---it will reinforce concepts. and the 2nd time you read the book, you will hopefully have been playing better and applying some of the learned techniques, and you'll learn even more / get more out of the read the second time. this is because you'll understand it better.theres nothing wrong with rereading the book many more times than 2. i advise 2-3 or more run throughs for full and total comprehension.maybe 1 time is enough, but its probably not.
  11. at that game, 2/5 blinds nl, i would buy in for no less than 250$. i would much prefer to buyin for 500$.if you only want to play for 100$, find a NL cash game with 1/2 blinds. those are real popular and you shouldnt have trouble finding one in most casinos
  12. doesnt have to be daniel who answers this! does anybody know the answer here? can somebody lend some knowledge please
  13. 1. When do you think the best time to play is? (if it's not to much trouble, what time on each day of week and also what are the top 3 days for almost all day (i would assume weekend?) *****Evenings and weekends are when the online action is best, as well as the action in live cardrooms. gotta let people get off work.2. Do you always call 2 bets cold with PP? it's great if you hit but...10-1 and all implied odds are there... mainly TT-22 is my question is TT that good? Do you call if the person raising is or seems tight? *****It depends on how many players are in the pot. i want a 6 handed p
  14. Daniel--Of the many pros you know and excluding the ones who endorse sites, about how many of them play online poker (with reasonbable frequency)?I'm just curious for your feeling of a general percentage. Do the top ''big name'' pros avoid playing online unless they have to for endorsing? What about other professionals who may not be as well known, but whom are still very skilled players?I am really curious to know if most pros shun online poker as a serious source of income, due to some loss of edge over poorer players, as well as the lack of high limits at many of the main traffic sites.
  15. if you only want to risk 10$ a session, i advise playing at the .05/.10 NL10$ ring game tables. you'll be buying in for the same amount, playing against slightly weaker players, and having 100BBs instead of being shortstacked at 20bbs.if you must play the .25/.50NL, 25$ or 50$ buyins, then buyin for the max or you'll only be cheating yourself.
