Schultz is a big loss. Pens top 3 D are gone.

Rust can be replaced reasonably well. Kuhnhackl is a solid replacement. Or Hornqvist could come back anyways.

I agree though. Pens need a short series.

Huh interesting result; not sure if I'm happier about the Sens' outburst in the first or the fact they were able to put one past Murray.

Sens got a couple lucky-ish goals early and the Pens just unraveled. Brutal showing. Sens crowd was lively.

Other than the wrap-around (4th goal) where Fleury over-commited a bit I don't think the really was at fault for any of them.

Yeah, I agree. Was surprised they didn't pull him after 3.

The goal on Murray was kind of an lol goal too. Puck just kind of stuck around for Turris. Kind of summed up the game well. Bounces going for the Sens, Pens not bothering to go for the loose puck or take the body.

I guess the big question is who do they go to for game 4?

Seems like they are going back to Fleury (if yesterday's practice is correct) -- though I suspect he does start he will have a very short leash.

The report is that it's Murray, not Fleury.

http://www.nydailyne...ticle-1.3179550

Which I understand, if you're trying to spark the team and he DID win a Cup last year, but benching the guy who is arguably the team's leading candidate for the Conn Smythe after one off game seems a bit...Pittsburgh-y.

I guess there's a certain amount of panic in Pittsburgh, they really don't want to risk going down 3-1. Lots of compelling arguments to start either goalie tbh; no right answer unless you using hindsight tomorrow morning.

Hindsight only: Murray is the better goalie. Do you risk Fleury returning to form? All I wanted in the world was Flower doing it, but I dunno.

I got a lot of faith in Sullivan, and it seems he was right. I think it was more of a tactic to shake the team up, rather than to punish Fleury, but I dunno. It's nice to be able to sit your Stanley Cup winning goaltender to bring in your other Stanley Cup goaltender, though.

So are there 2 levels of fines/suspensions for players?

Yes, Shaw was suspended because:
1. not a star player
2. there was a close up of his face on TV screaming the gay slur
3. there was widespread outrage because of 2.

Getzlaf not suspended because:
1. Star Player
2. Playoffs
3. Less media outrage
4. No damning video footage, even though nobody is denying that he did it.

It is equally disappointing and unsurprising that Getzlaf gets only a slap on the wrist.

Pretty bad. Back in the day (about 25 years ago) I ran a rec hockey team. The majority were asian players. Probably around 90%. We got called names all the time and only once did they catch it. The guy got a 5 game suspension.

Yesterday, I saw that Getzlaf had put out a statement, and I didnt even bother to read it, I figured it was the usual crap of bs.

I had no idea how bs it truly was, he didnt even have the integrity to apologize or consider his words.

I certainly hope that tomorrow night, He, and the 26 idiots who donated money to his cause, will be nothing but a memory in these playoffs. Go Preds go indeed!
